It works by decreasing the amount of bacteria in the mouth, helping to reduce swelling and redness and bleeding from the gums, soreness of any mouth ulcers and makes them healty. But it has to be used for a period of time only as prescribed by your dentist, not on regular basis as it has various side effects also like -- tooth/tongue staining, increased tartar, mouth/throat irritation, dry mouth, and change in taste of food/drinks may occur. So its always better to use any mouthwash under the concern of your dentist.
