Hii. My son is seven years old. He doesn't speak fluently. He stammers a bit. Do I need to consult to a doctor for removing his stammering or should I wait for him growing up, so that his stammering goes away with his age? Please advise.

Your son is 7 now. Do not wait anymore. Stammering does not go away with age. Please consult a paediatritian. He will check your son physically and see if there is physical deformity which is causing this problem. Once he rules out physical ailment, you may consult a speech therapist. Also, please try to boost his confidence. Do not shame him for his mistakes or inabilities. Appreciate his sincere efforts in each field. Children may stammer under stress or when they feel that they are inadequate and are being judged by the elders.
