Hello doctor I am a 27 year old boy I have an addiction for the last 10 years it's like alcohol addiction. I was taking naltrexone 50 mg the good effects of this medicine was so effective but I had to discontinue this naltrexone due to its major side effects, like unable to speak freely, hand shaking and so on I want to take some medicine which can give me the same effects as naltrexone. I have tried so many medicines but naltrexone was fabulous but side effects were so bad. I just want a substitute.

Hi Lybrate user, appreciate that you are able to acknowledge your addiction and aware of the medicine which is working for u. Please don't switch over from medicine to medicine and try to adapt to the same medicine which is suitable to you irrespective of side effects, with the consultation of doctor. Meanwhile, try to keep your lifestyle active, consult a psychologist and work on your emotions. Join yoga and work on your breathe. This will help you in the long run. All the best.
