I am suffering from knee pain and my doctor told that it is gout attack. My uric acid level was 8.3 After medication, it reduced to 5.2 and the pain reduced. After the medication stopped, the uric acid level was 6.2 and I am feeling slight pain in my knee again. My doctor says that since my uric acid level increased after medication, I will have to use medication my entire life. I am just 22 years old and I am not ready to take medicines for the rest of my life. Please give me an advice.

Gout is only a high uric acid level in blood. It is not a permanent disease. Some people need medicine for a longer period than usual.
