Hello doc, my 3 year old daughter was prescribed cefixime 200 mg to be taken every 24h but I gave her the second dose 12h too early after her first dose. What do I do? Should I give the next dose after 24 hrs as prescribed or after 36 hrs since I gave the second dose 12 hrs too early and then continue spacing by 24 hrs after the third dose?

Cefixime is usually given in 2 divided doses. Not sure why your doctor has asked to give it as a single daily dose. Also it would be helpful to know the strength of the syrup used (50 mg/5 ml or 100 mg/5 ml), the exact quantity of syrup given and your child's weight. For now I would suggest to hold off for at least 12 hours and get the exact dosage sorted out by another doctor, preferably a pediatrician.

Just continue 3rd dose of 200 mg after 24 hours , don't extend/ spaced out beyond 24 hours even you have given at 12 hours. Maximum spacing between two doses is 24 hours
