I am a 32 years old married woman. I have been using sanitary pads for all these years but now I am having issues using it. I feel uncomfortable and often end up with rashes that become painful at times. I am thinking of using menstrual cups now. I have seen its usage in a few videos. But I have doubts that it may leak. Doctor, please tell me whether I should use it or not and do menstrual cups leak?

No, menstrual cups don't leak if it is inserted and fixed properly inside the vagina and it is safe to use. A woman might face this issue in the beginning but it becomes easy to insert it properly after using it twice or thrice. In case you feel like it has not been positioned properly, you can use sanitary pads too along the menstrual cups. There is also a fear among women that menstrual cups may leak in case of heavy bleeding. The answer, however, is no. Menstrual cups have the capacity to hold an entire menstrual cycle's worth of period blood. Meanwhile, if you still feel that you bleed excessively, you can more often empty the cup.
