But the proteins in peanuts are similar in structure to those in tree nuts. For this reason, people who are allergic to peanuts can also be allergic to tree nuts, such as almonds, brazil nuts, walnuts, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, pistachios, pecans, and cashews. Depending on the severity of the allergy you might need to check for hidden sources of the allergen as a part of a dish or present due to cross contamination. Eg cookies, baked products, asian or indian foods like gravies or chutneys and sauces thickened with peanuts, cross contamination in ice-cream parlours where a single scoop is shared to scoop out all icecaps, chocolates etc. You need to be watchful if your allergy is severe.
