1. Hemorrhoid (piles) may be internal when it occurs inside rectum and external when it occurs below the skin around anus. 2. External pile causes pain and bleeding per anum when passing stool, 3. In internal piles there is bleeding at the time of passing stool and may not be associated with pain. 4. Dignosis of internal piles--proctoscopy/sigmoidoscopy. 5. There are four degrees of internal piles a) 1st degree-bulges into anal canal during bowel movement, b) 2nd degree- bulges from anus during bowel movement and goes inside c, 3rd degree-bulges from anus during bowel movement and has to be pushed back inside with finger, d) 4th degree-protrudes from anus all the time.
