I've been coughing for the last couple of years and I smoke. I get relief immediately after using a little of prescribed syrups but it continues again if I stop taking medicine. Docs repeatedly prescribe syrups but I choose to ignore them as they make me dizzy. I'm tired of using syrups but my problem gets irritating when I watch comedy shows/movies/laugh and I face lot of problem while trying to sleep and my slum is the main reason. I tried to quit smoking but it is of no use and I tried electronic cigarettes too but it's no good. I get temporary relief if I exercise but night times are hard. I haven't taken alcohol for the last 5 years and smoking is the one thing that keeps me going. I exercise. Please tell me what to do regarding this problem I face.

Quit smoking. Get xray chest, cbc esr, sputum afb and pft to know cause of cough. Smoking may be the sole cause of cough.
