Client with age 55 years has been suffering with thrombocytopenia for 6 months & very late response to the steroids medicine, now doctor asked us to stop steroids but she was gone to decline in her platelet count again so my question is since how long a person be under steroids what are its side effects how to control it or what is the other way to improve her platelet count?

I think that the counselling better be done by your doctor himself rather than outside consultants because this is a chronic condition and have to be careful about counselling. And who is the client?

Dear , first can upload the detailed full blood report of your mother. If it is only platelets that have reduced you need to do an anti neutrophil antibody test and an hiv test done. If these results are ok then your mother might have itp. Generally we do not need to worry if she has no bleeding symptoms till her platelets are above 20000.
