I' m a 45yo insulin dependent diabetic male. Am on lantus (once a day, 18 units) and lispro (humalog) pre-meals. Also, take a blood thinner-statin combo (ecosprin av 75). My question: should I take my insulin shots (lantus, lispro or both) before my exercise or after? what should be the target blood sugar before exercise? I play badminton or squash for 40 min every morning. I ask this because I find my blood sugar high even an hour after exercise. I don' t take insulin before exercise and have a light meal half hour before it. An egg and two toast or an egg and a banana. Let me know. Thanks.
