My father has a very bad habit of chewing tobacco. He is of 50 years old. He chews around 25-30 packets daily. Please suggest me how to get him out of this bad habit ?

Tobacco addiction can be treated. There are nicotine gums available in the market. He should just take one gum every 2 hours. Then continue the same no of gums for one week and then reduce one gum per week and taper and stop it. If this does not work then we can try other medicines as well.

He might be filling up some void through substance abuse. Let him address a deeper emotional issues which he is suppressing through tobacco, otherwise he will resort to some other addiction after withdrawal of tobacco.
