Doctor, please tell me what is exactly loss of smell? I could able to sense few smells which are bit distance away from my nose but could?t able to sense few smells from the same distance and my wife can sense the same from that distance and those which I could?t able to smell if I bring them near to my noise I could sense the smell. Is this called loss of smell?

If you can close one nostril and inhale through that side of your nose and then close the other and inhale through that side of your nose and you have good air flow, then you?re probably not congested to the point that it would affect your sense of smell.
