I was prescribed clonazepam 0.5 mg twice daily about 5 months ago. For one month I took 0.5 mg once a day. For a month after that I took 0.25 mg once a day. After that I cut down to 0.125 mg once a day for about 3 months. I then took 0.125 mg-0.0625 mg a day for about another month. I want to stop this medication but I am scared of the withdrawals I have heard about. For the last 10 days I have taken 0.0625 mg-0.125 mg every second day. Then occasionally I will have that crumb every third day. What is the best way to stop this medication with no withdrawal? Should I continue to take every second da.

Hello - you have done well in trying to taper down the clonazepam dose gradually over the past few months - currently you are on a very low dose of 0.0625 mg-0.125 mg every second day. If you have no withdrawal symptoms at present, then just take 0.0625 mgs every other day for about 4 weeks. If no withdrawal symptoms after 4 weeks, then you can stop. If you have any symptoms, consult your doctor for additional monitoring and support. Take care.
