My gr.daughter 6yrs old developed minor squint 4 months back. Eye specialist did exhaustive checks and found only minor correction +2 needed for both eyes. He also has suggested an Mri scan to be on the safe side. My query is ' whether we should Rush to do a scan? Can we wait till we have a strong suspicion that there is some problem with the brain?

Usually MRI scan is not suggested unless there is strong suspicion. Please clarify if Cycloplegic refraction is done after putting drops./Atropine ointment and if it is Eso deviation or inturning Eyes We need to see vision in each eye, fundus(retina),Binocularity and if squint improves by glasses( Is accomodative) .Most squints starting at this age may be due to glasses and may improve with glasses. So long as it improves with glasses and no other problem, surgery is not considered. If it is not due to glasses surgery may be required at later date.
