My friend, he got diagnosed of TB today and a few days ago, one of my other friends was meeting him in his hostel room and he coughed a lot in his conversational distance and a few minutes later he coughed up blood. Knowing its airborne, is there any chance he might be have caught on to it?

Yes if the patient if sputum positive for TB then there are chances of airborne spread of infection to patients coming in contact with patient.
