Age - 48, gender - female, currently in ICU, My mother recently underwent brain tumor surgery and two days after the successful operation she did not wake up and it has been 25 days now. Doctor has said that her sodium level is low (hyponatremia, so it has caused brain swelling and (central pontine myelinolysis) and will recover slowly. She listens everything we say and blinks eye's from inside and moves legs. She is understanding everything but not able to open the eye or show any other type of response. I want to know if this condition is treatable and if yes then what is the exact thing we need to do? Doctor is constantly giving her sodium but all of the sodium is coming out through urine. When sodium is above 130 she reacts a little bit but when it goes down below 130 she sleeps all day. Is giving constant sodium dangerous? Or their is any kidney issue involved in it? CT and MRI are done frequently and are normal after the surgery and shows no other irregular signs. Surgery was done in right part and the left part movement is negligible.

This is an unfortunate complication of brain tumor. Salt wasting syndrome. Anyways patients do recover but not fully and may take long.
