This may be local otitis externa, meaning inflammation, allergy and bacterial or fungal infection of outer ear. Middle ear infection with hole in ear membrane may also be another cause. You should see ENT specialist for direct examination under illumination, diagnosis and treatment. Keep ear dry. No drops or oil or water.

Hi, if your ear is dry, there is actually a possibility that you may have less of wax producing glands in ear. If you will repeatedly keep on itching the ear, it can be painful also. Instead use olive oil in a ear bud and apply in ear gently few times in a week. That may help.
