Whole Milk Vs Fat Free Milk - Which is Better?

Recent developments have shown that fat might not be as harmful as people originally thought it was. Fats can prove to be beneficial too. It is capable of providing the feeling of fullness as well as helps in absorbing vitamins that are fat-soluble. A recent publication of a review in the European Journal of Nutrition regarding the existing research on milk fat came to conclusion that were quite surprising. People who consume full fat or whole milk are on equal terms with people who consumed fat free milk, as far as development of type-2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease is concerned. However, as far as weight loss is concerned, whole i.e. full fat milk should be preferred over fat-free milk.

Various surveys have reported that a majority of the people who consume whole milk exhibit less weight gain, lower body weights as well as low risks of obesity. The argument that excess calories are beneficial for the waistline is a topic that is prevalent even today. According to some researchers as far as weight gain is concerned, all calories are not equal. Additionally, if the focus is solely on the number of calories per serving, then a huge factor leading to obesity is ignored.

This factor is called fullness. Dr. Mario Kratz, author of the aforementioned review and a designated nutrition scientist at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, states that the removal of fatty acids from skimmed milk results in a delayed feeling of fullness as well as staying full. He also states that the fatty acids in milk affect hormone regulation and gene expression. In simpler words, these acids might crank up the amount of energy burned by the body as well as limit the storage of fat in the body.

All these findings help in showing that consumption of whole milk is more preferable to low fat, as far as the risk of obesity is concerned. However, it does not mean that people should engage in consuming only whole milk and 'use butter in all the recipes'. However, as far as the comparison between skim i.e. fat free milk and whole milk is concerned, the available research argues and suggests that full-fat milk is the way to go. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.

Dear, you can get a healthy muscular body by following methods: - 1. To gain weight, your digestion should work properly for proper digestion - take 10 gms powder of carom seeds (ajwain, 10 gm powder of cumin (jeera), 10 gm of rock salt. Mix them well and take 1/2 teaspoon (3-5 gm) of mixture daily after meal. 2. Take a diet rich with proteins and fats. You should take high calorie food that increase your muscle mass and induce growth in bones. Follow the diet chart in your daily life to fastly gain weight * in morning, take a glass of milk added with 2 teaspoons of protein powder with breakfast. * in lunch time, take 1 bowl of curd or 100 gm of cheese, a bowl of vegetable, with chapattis. * in evening, take 1 glass of milk (300 ml) with 2 bananas. * in night, take a bowl of careals (daal, a bowl of salad with chapattis. 3. one way to reduce chances of hypoglycemia with insulin injection is to do a constant self monitoring of blood glucose particularly fasting, just before lunch, post lunch and early morning (3 am). If hypoglycemic episodes are predictable you can alter or adjust insulin dosage as well as food intake. That should help in preventing hypoglycemic episodes. But please remember there is no medication other than insulin in proper control of blood sugar. Hence my request to you is do not shift away from insulin. With a close association with your doctor get a proper dosage titration and control the sugar levels.

In the month of January'16 and my wife had complain related to irregular periods and one of the gaeno prescribed her Ovipauz L to take. She has been taking the same since last two months and this weekend I had her weight check and found she lost 10 Kgs of weight since she started taking it. Dear kindly do not stop any medication specially the one you are talking about on your own. It is too harmful for the patient and there are chances of bleeding and then irrerugular cycles. Kindly get a proper consultation before stopping or starting any medication. Mr. Lybrate-user, if a person has diabetes and he is on treatment, then sometimes there is a possibility of developing hypoglycemia (low blood glucose). Then he or she should take glucotabs, which provide rapidly absorbed glucose. If not then either sugar, candy or gur or some sweet can be taken. Thanks.

1)Don’t have those food which cause acidity , in front of children

( preferably don’t have them).


2) For older children talk to them

Try tl make them understand that the discomfort due to acidity is due to those particular food, that often helps cut down tantrums.


3) If they still insist , control the amount which they can have of favorite foods which you know cause reflux..., lesser the better.


4) Make them avoid these food at bedtime ,as lying down will make acid reflux worse.Bedtime atleast 2 to 3 hours after meals.


5) Dinner time should be early to avoid lying down with a full stomach
