Hi my sister has a severe migraine problem. It is very frequent and is triggered by almost anything. For example being in sun for a long period of time, travelling in a diesel car, not drinking enough water or sometimes for no reason. The pain is severe and she ends up vomiting almost everything she eats. She gets better only on the next day. What do you think should help minimise and normalise her troubles. Looking forward to hearing from all the esteemed doctors in the Lybrate community. Thanks in advance.

Consume it once or twice a day. • Menthol and menthone are the primary components of mint which are very effective in alleviating headaches. • Peppermint contains menthol that helps open up clogged blood vessels that cause headaches. It also has calming and soothing effects. • Basil works as a muscle relaxant, making it a helpful treatment for mild headaches caused by tense muscles. Plus, it has calming and analgesic effects. • Simply smelling the soothing scent of lavender essential oil can be of great help in relieving tension headaches. Research suggests that it can also help improve migraine symptoms. • The cold from ice helps reduce inflammation that contributes to headaches. Plus, it has a numbing effect on the pain. • Simply massage your forehead and temples with a few drops of rosemary oil mixed in a tablespoon of carrier oil. • Crush a few cloves gently and put them in a sachet or a clean handkerchief. Inhale the smell of the crushed cloves whenever you have a headache until you get some relief from the pain. • Simply eat an apple with some salt. • Accupuncture: Press and massage the fleshy area between the thumb and index finger, at the highest spot of the muscle when both the thumb and finger are brought close together. Do this for one or two minutes and then repeat on the other hand. Exercise Regular exercise can reduce the frequency and intensity of headaches and migraines. When one exercises, the body releases endorphins, which are the body’s natural painkillers. Exercise reduces stress and helps individuals to sleep at night. Stress and inadequate sleep are two migraine triggers. Homeopathic treatment In order to prescribe a homeopathic remedy, it is crucial to discover what is unique about the way an individual experiences a headache. For example, all migraine sufferers may experience nausea, but a particular individual may feel thirsty for cold drinks with the headache. Thirst for cold drinks is the characteristic symptom that sets one migraine sufferer apart from others. There are hundreds of possible remedies for the treatment of headaches, so the key is finding which homeopathic remedy most closely matches your symptoms. Do not allow Headache to make your life miserable. Switch over to the homeopathic treatments and enjoy a stress free life. Wish to know more about the effective homeopathic treatment? What are the symptoms of migraine and flu and dengue and what precaution should be taken to avoid this and try to be safe and what are symptoms of migraine and what to do.

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
The main symptom of a migraine is usually an intense headache that occurs at the front or on one side of the head. The pain is usually a severe throbbing sensation that gets worse when you move and prevents you from carrying out normal activities. Avoid triggers. If certain foods or odors seem to have triggered your migraines in the past, avoid them. Reduce your caffeine and alcohol intake and avoid tobacco. In general, establish a daily routine with regular sleep patterns and regular meals. In addition, try to control stress. Exercise regularly. Regular aerobic exercise reduces tension and can help prevent migraines. If your doctor agrees, choose any aerobic exercise you enjoy, including walking, swimming and cycling. Warm up slowly, however, because sudden, intense exercise can cause headaches. Obesity is also thought to be a factor in migraine headaches, and regular exercise can help you maintain a healthy weight or lose weight. People who have the flu often feel some or all of these symptoms: fever* or feeling feverish/chills. Cough. Sore throat. Runny or stuffy nose. Muscle or body aches. Headaches. Fatigue (tiredness) try to avoid close contact with sick people. Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it. Wash your hands often with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Germs spread this way. Clean and disinfect surfaces and objects that may be contaminated with germs like the flu. Symptoms include severe joint and muscle pain, swollen lymph nodes, headache, fever, exhaustion, and rash. The presence of fever, rash, and headache (the" dengue triad") is characteristic of dengue fever. Because dengue fever is caused by a virus, there is no specific medicine or antibiotic to treat it. For typical dengue fever, the treatment is directed toward relief of the symptoms (symptomatic treatment). The prevention of dengue fever requires control or eradication of the mosquitoes carrying the virus that causes dengue. There is currently no vaccine to prevent dengue fever.

Hi. I am a 28 year old male. I was driving a bike when the car in front of me suddenly stopped. I could not stop in time and hit it and fell on the ground. I was wearing a helmet. I did not get any head injury. But is it possible that I may have got a concussion? I have read that when the brain is stopped suddenly, it may bounce back and forth and hit the skull. Could it have happened in my case too? I have no symptoms of a concussion as such. Kindly help.

Neurologist,
Sorry to hear about your accident, and glad that you were infact wearing a helmet. You are right about the mechanism of concussion, and yes mild concussion can happen even without loss of consciousness; however, if there are no clinical symptoms- no headaches, dizziness, memory issues, irritability, sleep issues, etc- I would not worry about it. When people do have mild concussion the important thing is to get physical and cognitive rest, using a 5 -6 day stepwise approach to return to full activity. Best,

Its symptoms include - episodic unilateral or bilateral, severe and pulsating headaches, associated at times with nausea and vomiting, relieved momentarily on rest or taking medications and aggravated by precipitating factors. The treatment of migraine is mainly done for relief from acute headache attacks and later treatments to prevent future relapses. Also treatment of factors which tend to cause relapses is also important. Consult a headache specialist for a composite and complete treatment. I 18 year old male and I belongs from India. I have pain in my brain and spinal cord from 4 to 5 years.
And I consult...
It is a fact that all the effects/pain in brain & spinal cord in your case on body are due to stress/ tension may be known to you or unknown related to family, professional, student, non achievements etc in any field of life. We know that when we are totally, really happy i.e internally and externally remain always happy there can't be any disease that is why the disease once starts not cured with medicine because the reason for the origin of stress remains there & stress goes on increasing & also changes effects in one form or the other. So there is need of mind management a type of counselling -(After a research on lacking facts why in spite of so much knowledge on mind disease & stress is theres) why tension/stress in your particular case has effects in the form of brain & spinal pains and how to get rid of it. So there is a need 2 to 3 hr discussion why these occur in this form & no reoccuence in future. One session of 30 min. Online. Also there is a need of sessions for effects on body effects with powerful techniques like craniosacral balancing n quantum touch which work both on physical and mental levels by balancing 3rd rhythm, autonomic nervous system, musculoskeletal system by releasing suppressed emotions &pains etc. Rest of the details about services for incurable diseases & for mind problems, super mind are also there on website / Lybrate profile/personal statement column.
