Bread is High in Carbs and Can Spike Blood Sugar Levels Even whole grain bread usually isn’t made out of actual “whole” grains. They are grains that have been pulverized into very fine flour. Even though this process reserves the nutrients, it causes these products to be digested rapidly. The starches in bread get broken down quickly in the digestive tract and enter the bloodstream as glucose. This causes a rapid spike in blood sugar and insulin levels. Even whole wheat bread spikes blood sugar faster than many candy bars (1). When blood sugar goes up rapidly, it tends to go down just as quickly. When blood sugar goes down, we become hungry. This is the blood sugar roller coaster that is familiar to people on high carb diets. Soon after eating, they become hungry again, which calls for another high-carb snack. Elevated blood sugars can also cause glycation at the cellular level when the blood sugars react with proteins in the body. This is one of the components of ageing (2). Studies on carb restricted diets (which eliminate/reduce starches and sugars) suggest that individuals who are diabetic or need to lose weight should avoid ALL grains regularly u dont eat

Weight gain is muscle gain. In your condition your energy requirement is very high so whatever you eat is used as a source of energy and you do not make muscle. To gain muscles you will have to eat at least 6 meals (high calorie) in a day at a regular interval with a proper ratio of proteins and carbohydrates. Proteins will help you gain body mass while carbohydrates will help you give energy. Protein foods are eggs, fish, chicken, milk and milk products, meat and dals. Carbohydrate foods are roti and rice, potatoes, sweet potatoes. You have to eat vegetables and fuits and use healthy and good fats for cooking like ghee, cold pressed mustrad or til oil. You will also have to do some weight training exercise to help you build mass into the body. Also drink enough water to keep you hydrated. Weight gainers are good but it should have a mix of good whey protein with good amount of carbohydrates. And it has to be accompanied with intense weight training. Then it will show results.

U seem to be having post viral fatigue. Weakness is due to viral infection. Have healthy diet esp protein rich. Drink plenty of liquids. Take adequate rest. Multivitamin could be helpful. Hope u recover soon.

If a physically very weak person do exercise regularly. Then is there any bad effect to her body ? I have listen that , if a physically weak person do hard exercise regularly, then their blood level will be diminished.

Dear lybrate-user you are totally wrong. Always exercise should be done till you get sweat under arms. At this stage you have to stop exercise. You regularly do pranayama meditation and exercise take leafy vegetables sprouts and seasonal fruits. Maintain diet timings. You can take ashwagandha powder for general strength twice a day with milk. Review after one month.

i suggest you easy method of weight gain just follow it for year you will gain weigh defiantly 1. start exercise regularly for 3 month and then after 3 month leave it for 3 month at the time of exercise your diet will increase but same diet continue after 3 month when you stop exercise so thats why your weight will increase automatically now we discus about diet 2.take dates with milk in the morning breakfast 3.triphala kadha 4 tsp beore lunch and dinner 4.amala juice 4 tsp + 2tsp sugar + 2tsp honey in the morning empty stomach this take for 1.5 month only your weight gain will take definitely note=avoid over eating ......

to gain weight you should eat more calories than you burn. Plus not only you have to eat calorie dense food but you have to keep in mind that what you are eating is healthy too. In the process of weight gain you do not want to put weight in an uneven manner and look unhealthy rather than looking bright and healthy. 1. Start exercising. Start working out if you are not active. The biggest myth that prevails now a days is that thin people do not need to work out. This is wrong. When you challenge your body, it is forced to grow. But this growth can only be possible if you are eating enough food to let the body absorb and grow in size and muscles. Lift Weights, do free body weight exercises. 2. Eat healthy. Stop drinking and smoking too much if you are indulged in it. Limit your intake of junk food and any form of sugar. Do not at all starve yourself. Make it a habit to eat something healthy every 3 hours. This means you have to eat 6 small meals in a day. Your daily food intake should ideally consist of nuts, dry fruits, seeds, almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, figs, dates and raisins. They are full of healthy fats needed by a human body. 3. Consume good amount of fruits and vegetables. Bananas, apples, pomegranate, green leafy vegetables. Fruits and vegetables helps in absorption of food in the body and together, completes your daily nutrition need. 4. Eat whole grains. Try to have multi grains spread throughout the day. Wheat, brown rice, oats, bajra, daliya etc should be taken in multiple meals in a day. 5. Supplementation. You can supplement your diet with good quality multi-vitamin capsules. If you are lacking in protein, you can buy a high quality whey protein and have it with banana shake twice a day. Chana and moong which are full of protein and nutrients. 6. Increase protein intake. Protein proves to be the most essential nutrient when it comes down to gaining strength or building muscle. Therefore, consume all types of protein from both veg and non veg food items. Chana and moong which are full of protein and nutrients. Try to be patient while you are on the process of weight gain. Results take time to show. Just follow the regimen of weight gain religiously and you will soon start seeing the results.

Eating sufficient is not enough. You should eat diet full of calories. Take diet rich in proteins Take whole grain food, potato and nuts. Do regular exercise. Also eat two bananas with milk daily.

Hye, thanks for the query. Firstly understand that weight gain is very dependent on genetics and metabolism along with your daily diet and exercise routine. It is important to know that just eating just two heavy meals a day will not help. Weight gain is all about taking more calories than you burn. Eating the right foods at the right time is very important. There is no one food that helps weight gain. Eat meals at frequent intervals. You need to eat at least 6 main and mid meals a day. Eat a mid meal between each main meal. Avoid junk foods. Include dairy, eggs, nuts, fruits, dry fruits, starchy vegetables, rice, bread, whole grain cereals, smoothies, masala milk, ghee, cream in your meals. Just eating sugary, sweet foods is not good. Try to have healthy deserts like kheer, chikki or lassi. Avoid alcohol and smoking. Exercise at least thrice a week. It helps development of muscle mass and improves appetite. Even if you were to take just medicines or supplements they will not work in isolation. You need to have a calorie and nutrient dense meal and good exercise routine, it's crucial.

1. Keep yourself hydrated. 2. Get extra rest for some days till you feel more energetic. 3. Avoid watching television for long hours. Indulge in relaxing activities. 4. Avoid stress and too much physical exertion. 5. Take a nutritious diet with more protein items in homemade food like soya, sprouts, dals, paneer, milk, seasonal fruits. 6. Do light physical activity, meditation and yoga. 7. Take one good multivitamin tablet after food for 7 days.

Hi lybrate-user, quality as well as quantity both are important in our life. Rice, curd in large quantities, spicy, fast foods and outside eatables are harmful and create laziness. Eat maximum salads and fresh seasonal fruits. If required dry fruits but only 3 - 4 in quantity. Drink lots of water and be regular on fresh vegetable soups. Most important minimum 7 hrs sleep. Slight meditation and yoga will be very much useful.

Liver enzymes are normal, c reactive protein is high -it can be due to infection/inflammation anywhere in the body, need not be due to heart or only due to heart in absence of specific symptoms of other organs, apo-1 is normal it is a fat+protein combo in blood that is water soluble and keeps circulating in the blood, in a way it reflects the good cholesterol which should be at a higher level to prevent blockages in the blood vessels, apo-b is very high -means it is a precursor of bad cholesterol in the blood that is responsible for blockages and plaque formation. Your dm-2 is under control with medication. You have to bring down apo-b by cutting down bad fats like transfats, oily food, etc which I am sure you are doing to control your dm. By increasing good cholesterol precursors like apo-1 & other apos except b (remember b for bad) your chances of getting bad fats on higher levels will get reduced. Take water with a spoon of honey (allowed for dm) with juice of a lemon every morning on empty stomach -it does burn bad fats, eat a spoon of good fats like desighee/ butter + a katori of assorted nuts every day (allowed for dm) cut down extra carbs in place of good calories gained.
