Respected lybrate-user hi your case requires clinical evaluation dear but from your presentation I assume it could be muscular / developing hernia / small ureteric stone in few cases. I will advise to get an ultrasonography of abdomen pelvis done. Thanks regards.

That is a patent drug. It is better to take your constitutional drug/Indicated remedy that suits you for the condition. It needs personal consultation in detail. Consult a nearby Physician and get well soon.

I have fibroadenoma in my breast can I have the treatment for this please suggest also suggest me the foods. Thanks in advance.

If it is proved fibro-adenoma breast nothing needs to be done. Fibroadenoma breast is a benign condition. It just needs to be observed if it is not troubling you. Report to a doctor (surgeon) if it suddenly increases in size. Thanks.

Please let me know what is the symptoms of a throat cancer and is massive smoking cause this disease?

MBBS, DNB ( Radiation Oncology)
Oncologist, Mumbai
Hello Mr. Lybrate-user unfortunately or fortunately there is a strong relationship between smoking and throat cancer. So smoking is definitely preventive in throat cancer and many other cancers as well like lung cancer, etc. Symptoms can be a gradual change in voice if it is in the vocal cord. If it is above or below the vocal cords, there may be difficulty in swallowing food, there may be associated pain often, there may be a foreign body sensation in throat, as if something is stuck in the throat. I hope that helps you.

I'm 30 year old woman, my both breasts have pain for 1 year, and also those are differ in sizes. What should I do?

DNB, MBBS
Oncologist, Faridabad
Difference in size of both breasts may be natural if it is from the beginning. But if the asymmetry has become recently then it needs to be evaluated. Pain in breast if it is cyclical that means increases when periods are nearing is normal due to edema or swelling of breasts. Restricting salt intake and hot fomentation helps. You can also take evion and primosa which may help in reducing inflammation of ducts. Sports bra or proper breast support helps.

How do you remove the pesticides from broccoli which is very harmful and probably causes cancers?

Hi lybrate-user, I appreciate you seeking guidance. Well, you can wash it thoroughly with cold water 2 to 3 times that shall remove maximum of the pesticide residues. Also, washing with 2% salt solution will help remove the pesticides. Residues remaining, if any, shall get removed during the process of cooking. The above-mentioned risk of pesticide contamination is averted significantly/ totally, if one goes for organically cultivated fruits, vegetables and foods etc all.

Cervical Cancer - Why Is Screening Important?

MS - Obstetrics and Gynaecology, MBBS
Gynaecologist, Noida
Cervical Cancer - Why Is Screening Important?

Are you aware of cervical cancer, which develops in the cervix of a woman? The cervix is the entrance to the womb from the vagina, and unusual vaginal bleeding accounts for being the primary symptom of this condition. Although abnormal vaginal bleeding may indicate several other conditions, you should get diagnosed for cervical cancer.

Symptoms
The various symptoms of cervical cancer are as follows:

  1. Abnormal and unusual bleeding from the vagina between periods, after having sex, and after menopause in women
  2. Pain in the pelvis or lower abdomen
  3. Pain while having sex
  4. Abnormal vaginal discharge

Diagnosis

  1. Over several years, cells lining the cervix go through various changes. In some rare cases, these cells, which are precancerous, may turn out to be cancerous. These cell changes in the cervix can be detected early, and proper treatment is capable of reducing the development of cervical cancer.
  2. A screening for cervical cancer should be carried out for diagnosing this condition. Cervical screening, or smear test involves the study of sample cells taken from the cervix. The sample cells are observed under a microscope for detecting cervical cancer or other abnormalities. An abnormal cervical screening does not always indicate cervical cancer, as abnormal results can occur because of an infection or because of the presence of precancerous cells that are treatable.
  3. Screening should be undertaken by women of all ages. It is recommended for women between the ages of 25 to 49 to undergo this cervical cancer screening once in every three years. For women between the age of 50 to 64, screening should be carried out once in five years. For women above the age of 65, screening is recommended for the ones who did not have a screening since the age of 50 and for the ones who had abnormal test results in the past.

Treatment

  • Cervical cancer can be successfully treated by a surgical procedure, if it is diagnosed at an initial stage. In some cases, the womb can be left in place, while it may be removed in some other cases. The surgical procedure used for removing the womb is known as hysterectomy.
  • Radiotherapy is an alternative surgical procedure that is undertaken by women with cervical cancer, at an early stage. In more serious cases, a combination of radiotherapy and chemotherapy is used for the treatment of cervical cancer. Although quite effective, some treatment procedures for cervical cancer are associated with side effects such as infertility and early menopause.
