My wife Is suffering from stomach cancer stage4 and now vomits only blood no intake of food or drink not even medicine only survives on saline weight reduced from 75 kg to 40 kg. Age 65 years advise what to do.

DNB, MBBS
Oncologist, Faridabad
Dear sir, kindly specify that in which other organ it has spread. For any radical treatment her general condition needs to be stable. She needs evaluation by surgeon if any feeding tube either nasogastric or feeding jejunostomy can be placed, in her condition palliative care or best supportive care is generally offered to make her as comfortable as possible sometimes haemostatic dose of radiation also works well to control bleeding.

Hello doctor I have some painful lumps in breasts and in left armpit as well. What should I do?

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology, Diploma in Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics, Cetificate Course In Thyroid Disorders Management (CCMTD)
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Lumps in the breasts can be of different types. Usually ones which are painful are non-cancerous. However, if there are larger ones it is better to get those properly examined by a surgeon and also get investigated. Usuall investigations are Ultra sonography and mammogram. Plus if need be then FNAC (Fine needle aspiration cytology). So my suggestion is please consult a good surgeon and then follow his advice. Online it is difficult to give any conclusive opinion. Thanks.

Hi Mr. lybrate-user, I appreciate you seeking opinion. As far as I understand, this injection attempts to slow down the growth of prostate cancer by lowering the levels of male hormone testosterone. Its good to note that your PSA levels have consistently decreased from as high as 41 ng/ mL in Nov 15' to as low as 1.2 ng/ mL in June 16' However, sometimes one may still have prostate cancer despite a normal PSA value. A PET CT scan, at this juncture, can help provide correct status as regards the progression of the disease. Apart from consulting your primary oncologist with the diagnostics, I would advise that you connect with an expert oncologist specializing in genito-urinary cancers for a second opinion. Simultaneously, you may decide to go for an integrative treatment with natural medicines that can help improve clinical outcomes. Hope this helps. Do take care and all the very best.

Lung Cancer in Women

FRHS, Ph.D Neuro , MPT - Neurology Physiotherapy, D.Sp.Med, DPHM (Health Management ), BPTh/BPT
Physiotherapist, Chennai

Lung cancer occurs at slightly younger age in women than in men. Adenocarcinoma is the commonest type of lung cancer in women. It warrants testing for some molecular markers which form the basis of targeted therapies. Thus lung cancer in women behaves biologically and clinically different from that in men

Women should take care of their health, stay away from tobacco and think positive

Hi, I appreciate you seeking help for your father. It would have helped had you had shared details of the biopsy, other diagnostics and treatment history thus far, too. Nevertheless, I would advise you to take second opinion from one another oncologist specializing in head & neck cancers and decide on the steps next accordingly. Simultaneously, an integrative treatment with alternative medicines may help improve clinical outcomes as possible contextually. You can connect with details, for further alternative medicine traction. Hope this helps. Do take care and all the very best. Sincerely, Dr. Pritam Mohapatra (ND & Naturopathic Oncologist) Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
