-Do steam inhalation once or twice daily -Cough- For dry cough.Take syrup Alex-D for a dry cough.(1 tsp thrice daily) -Productive cough:it brings up mucus from behind the throat or the lungs.These coughs should not be suppressed to the point that they no longer bring up mucus. Use syrup Alex. -Get chest xray done if cough lasts for more than a week and consult doctor immediately.

Hello, this may be because of weakness of nerves and general weakness. Take alfalfa tonic, 2 tsp, thrice daily before meals. Kali phos 6x, 5 tabs twice daily. Drink plenty of water at short gaps. Revert after 15 days. Thanks.

Sir/madam, I am facing pain in both calves for long period, specially at the time sitting and at the time take sleep (in afternoon). I have taken advice from doctor and doing excercise, but not get any benifits. It is requested please give me advice for solving the problem. Thank you very much.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I want to know your detailed clinical history, your relevant investigations, your treatment records till now. It helps me to better understand your condition and prescribe accordingly. Calf pain can be due to several reasons like vitamin d deficiency, shin splints etc. My advise would be to stop physical activity for atleast 2 weeks if you are into sporting activities, initiate physical therapy to strengthen muscles, take adequate supplementation, ice packs and limb elevation, and let me know in around 2 weeks time. I was experiencing acute pain in my thumb in year 2011 near the joints whereby if my thumb bends at the middle joint, it would not straighten on its own immediately and I had to use my other hand to make it straight which was very painful. On seeing an Orthopedic Dr, it was diagnosed as Trigger Finger. Since physiotherapy sessions did not help, I was advised a 3 course injection shots at the thumb joint of the palm at weekly intervals. These shots were not only painful but it would make me incapacitated for at least 4 days after the shot. I had a relapse in 2012 and had to again take a 2 short course on the thumb joint at weekly intervals. Thereafter my thumb was as good as normal. However now I have yet again started experiencing this pain in my index and middle fingers of both the hands. When I get up in the morning, the fingers are not only very stiff, but they are locked at the middle joint and while straightening them it's very very painful. I do not wish to again go through procedure of taking shots on my finger joints. Can you please advise how can I overcome this problem without taking shots. Is there any alternate treatment in Ayurvedic or Homeopathic medicine? I am 55 years of age and suffer from HBP for which 2 tablets (Nebistar 5 mg & Telmikind 40). I also have a history of acidity, reflux and gastric disorders. Please advise and help. Thanks in advance.

Advice…. Back pain. Advice. Hot Fomentation x twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction. Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily Bhujang Asana x 15 timesx twice daily Core Strengthening Exercises. Back Stretching. Knee Advice. Avoid sitting Cross legged. Avoid Squatting- Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams Stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports Taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area Contrast Fomentation (Hot and Cold).

It could be due to cervical spondylosis this is quite a common condition rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Use no pillow under the head. Any way take bio d3 max 1tab odx10days ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days do neck & back (spine) exercises contact me again if need be. Use of cervical collar will give you relief. It may have to be further investigated. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take.

Hi, thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You are very young to actually have persistent back pains. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc and with no other associated constitutional symptoms like evening rise in temperature, loss of weight, excessive sweating at night etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. It requires detailed investigation and examination. Preliminary investigations suggested: hb, tlc, dlc, esr, blood sugar fasting & pp, uric acid vit d urine r/e x-ray of the affected part. Anyway it may be tried sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back, knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Do not ignore it. Let it not become beginning of a bigger problem. Make sure that patient is not allergic to any of the medicines that he/she is going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, inform.

I have a back & chest muscles pain occurred while playing volleyball, hence it's a chest pain I consult a cardiologist, he took my ECG & did a lipid profile but all tests were came normal so he said it will go soon as it's muscles pain but now after 3 weeks also it's not going so please suggest me some good doctor who can treat my muscles pain. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times.

This could be due to oa knee &/or obesity. Physiotherapy along with medicines will help. Do knee exercises. It may have to be further investigated rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with a soft bedding on it. Any way take multivitamins & other antioxidants along with. Ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days you will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take.
