Dear , if you are drinking lots of water by habit which results in increased frequency then you drink as much to produce 1-1.5 liter of urine in 24 hours. Still if proble persists then get urine test done to rule out infection. If it is normal then get usg done with full bladder volume, bladder wall thickness on full bladder and post void residual volume measurement which show if there is another cause.

There are many normal or abnormal causes of dark yellow urine. Commonest is insufficient water intake, hot weather or sweating etc. Hence you should take about 3 litres of water daily in summer conditions. Urine infection, jaundice etc may be some causes. But there will be associated complaints hence you should see your doctor for proper clinical examination, related investigations of urine for any abnormalities and proper diagnosis.

For diabetes follow a diet low in carbohydrate, low in fat and high in fibre. Avoid bakery products. Avoid too much rice and potato. Avoid fried stuff. Avoid chocolate, cakes, ice cream, soft drinks and fruit juices. Eat lots of vegetables. Walk for at least 30 minutes a day for 5 days in a week. Insulin will work better if taken in combination with diet and exercise. Medication will depend on your blood sugar level.

Any cure for reccurent urinary tract infection from e. Coli? please suggest treatment?

Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS), MS - Urology, MBBS
Urologist, Ahmedabad
Dear , there is always cure for recurrent uti provided correct diagnosis is made, correct medicines are given in proper dosages and for sufficient duration with proper instruction. Uti is not the final diagnosis. It is only the result of some underlying problem means it is secondary to some hidden cause. For that initially one has to undergo sonography with full bladder volume, bladder wall thickness and post void residual urine volume. If you are retaining urine after urination then uroflowmetry is essential. This should mostly give the diagnosis. If not then cystourethroscopy should be done then you have to treat the cause, similarly diabetes also cause and predispose to any infection like uti stilllife the cause is not detected then one has to take long term antibiotic therapy: initially full dose till urine test shows less than 5 pus cells followed by maintenance therapy for 3 months to a year.

You should follow these very important and simple things to prevent stone formation & to get sure treatment of kidney stones: 1. First take a lot of fluid daily. The more you drink water and fluid, the less amount of deposit accumulate in kidney. So you have to make your kidneys healthy just only by drinking 2-3 liters (10-12 glasses) of water. 2. Stones are mainly formed of calcium and oxalate. So take very low quantity of milk, cheese, cream and dairy products. 3. Do not take strawberry, plum, spinach and tomatoes. These fruits and vegetables are rich in oxalate. So avoid them to prevent from kidney stones. 3. Stop taking supplementary vitamin d and calcium medication. 4. Avoid animal protein diet- eggs, red meat, fish in diet. 5. Take less amount of salt, pickle and western foods. They have high amount of sodium. So avoid it. 6. Urinary infection are also one of the cause of stone. So take proper antibiotic treatment of urinary infection on time. Even when you feelburning sensation or pain during urination, don't avoid it. Take medication as soon as possible. I hope you follow them in your life andstay healthy. 7. You can take gokshur tablets of himalaya for 3 months. It definitely get relief from kidney stones. 8. How To Deal With Overactive Bladder?

MBBS, MS - General Surgery, M.Ch - Urology
General Surgeon, Bangalore
How To Deal With Overactive Bladder?

Overactive bladder, also known as OAB, is a condition where sudden involuntary contractions of the urinary bladder's muscular walls cause bladder storage dysfunction. It leads to sudden and frequent urges to urinate (urinary urgency), as well as unintentional leakage or urine (urinary incontinence).

This is a condition that affects both men and women and causes tremendous discomfort in nearly every aspect of daily life. The specific causes of OAB vary from case to case but it is generally attributed to infection of the urinary tract or dysfunction of the nervous system. The symptoms are intensified by unhealthy lifestyle choices such as overindulging in caffeinated drinks, spicy foods, and alcohol.

There are several ways in which you can deal with the problem of OAB, depending on the nature of the case. It is necessary for you to consult a urologist for a detailed diagnosis to formulate the best treatment option.

Following are the most effective remedies to treat an overactive bladder:

1. Lifestyle Modifications - Also known as behavioral therapy, this is the first step in the treatment of OAB. It involves inculcating simple changes into everyday habits such as avoiding food and drinks that irritate the bladder, scheduling (and in some cases, practice delaying) bathroom visits, exercising the pelvic floor and bladder muscles, keeping a record of urinating habits in a 'bladder diary' for better understanding the problem, etc. You can incorporate these habits into everyday activities for an easy alleviation of the problem with absolutely no side effects.

2. Medication and SurgeryThere are several different kinds of medicines and drugs that can treat the problem of OAB. The most common types are muscle relaxants that loosen the muscles of the urinary bladder to prevent involuntary contractions, and antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs that treat urinary tract infections. Many types of implants are surgically set into the pelvic area to act as electrical nerve stimulators for neuromodulation therapy. Reconstructive bladder surgery is another remedial option.

3. Devices and Products - Urinary urgency and incontinence can be managed through the external use of various devices and products which collect and hold urine or absorb leakages. These include indwelling catheters, condom catheters (for men), urine drainage bags, absorbent pads and adult diapers, and toilet substitutes such as bedpans and bedside urinals. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can ask a free question.

I've observed wen I control my pee for longer time it loses pressure while peeing. Is it a negative sign.Pls help.

Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS), MS - Urology, MBBS

Dear , It is normal that when you retain urine for a long time urinary bladder gets over distended and when it stretches beyond a critical level bladder muscle losses power to contract normally and contracts feebly so forces is less. It is not a negative sign but you should not be doing so.If bladder gets overdistended the you may develop retention of urine. Dr. Kiran Mehta.
