I am 19 yrs old I have backache problem what should I do I have taken the xray in that the result shows that I have a gape in the back bone.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You are very young to actually have persistent back pains. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. Better you continue PHYSIOTHERAPY for 15-20 days under guidance of good therapist. Faulty posture during sleeping may be the reason for this.

Hello, kindly measure your temperature i am giving you commonest causes of body pain 1. Due to fever Additional common causes abrupt start/ stop of physical exercise, stress, depression, nutritional deficiencies like multi minerals and vitamin deficiency side effect of medicines may be because of some disease like thyroid problem, diabetes, fibromyalgia etc kindly follow advice given below 1. measure your temperature 2. avoid mental or physical exertion 3. regular meditation practice 4. warm bath can help and for backache 1. use hard bed 2. kindly go for X ray Thoracolumbar spine (AP and lateral) and review with reports consult physician for further management

Avoid long sitting toward bending tk break between long sitting use soft pillow for back support. Do hot fermentation and stretching exercise of spine and legs. If it work then ok otherwise physiotherapy treatment.

Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana – Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Back Stretching- lie flat, pull one of the knee forward to chest, hold for 3 seconds, then bring the other knee forward to the chest and again hold for 3 seconds. Then pull both knees towards the chest and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times each exercise twice a day. Do the cat/cow stretch. Get on all fours, with your arms straight and your hands directly under your shoulders; your knees hip-width apart.

Crunches should not cause your low back to hurt. If you repeatedly have pain while performing crunches, cease the activity and seek physiotherapist consultation. When performing a crunch the low back will round. When the lower back rounds it has the potential to push fluid from the intervertebral disc space out and may compress the nerves. A few good alternative core exercises you can try are planks, ball bridges, stability ball marching and dying bug exercises. These will all work the abdominals, help you to lose belly fat and should reduce low back pain.

Dear Sir/Madam, please guide When I do heavy workout, fast running or after playing hours of tennis my tibia and calf started to so much pain. I feel such a tibia is broken. I feel so much muscle pain. I use ice and hot water for calm down it. But much pain remains. There is no injury at all. You are requested to suggest way to be strong tibia and calf for my better performance in tennis game.

Increase your liquid intake, increase milk products and protein in your diet, take rest for 10 days than again start game for few minutes only daily for one week than start your time of playing gradually. This problem is not because of weakness this is basically shin tibia.

It requires detailed investigation and examination. Preliminary investigations suggested: hb, tlc, dlc, esr, blood sugar fasting & pp, uric acid vit d urine r/e x-ray of the affected part. Anyway it may be tried sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back, knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Do not ignore it. Let it not become beginning of a bigger problem. Make sure that patient is not allergic to any of the medicines that he/she is going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, inform.

Kindly show me photograph of the affected part. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Use no pillow under the head. Kindly take biod3 max 1 tab dailyx10 paracetamol 250mg od & sos x5days do back (spine)/shoulder/knee exercises make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take do not ignore it. It could be beginning of a serious problem. If no relief in 4_5 days, then contact me again.
