Put eyedrop systane ultra four times a day. See an ophthalmolgst for. Repeat syringing and meticulous examination to findout the cause for watering eye. Your hba1c status shows normal control of blood sugar. Keep it up. Because alterd metabolic status also has ill effects on retina and thus vision.

Has this medicine kept your blood sugar under control because the readings which you have have given doesn't indicate a normal range. To combat weakness in diabetes, try this @ syzium jambolanum q / 10 drops /tds @ alfa alfa q /20 drops /1/2 hour before meal, twice daily @ avena sativa q/20 drops /1/2 hour after meal, twice daily. Revert for follow up.

My parents have diabetes. Is there any possibility for me to lead a diabetes free life? I am 27 and obese.

My parents have diabetes. Is there any possibility for me to lead a diabetes free life?
I am 27 and obese.
Lybrate-userji, t2 diabetes does run in families, passes on to children from parents. So there is a real possibility of you getting it too. However, one good thing about t2 dm is that it is a preventable disease. By that it means that if one maintains a healthy modifies lifestyle, one can remain free from it or postpone it for a number of years. Healthy lifestyle means - exercise regularly, for at least 1 hour a day, take a balanced diet, avoid excess sweets, deep fried foods, junk foods, pastries, other bakery items, high milk products, aerated sweetened drinks (colas), fructose corn syrup containing products and highly processed foods. Maintain a normal weight (bmi <23 kg/m2) your present bmi is 27.01 kg/m2, showing definite over weight. That needs to be reduced (ideal body weight + 57 kgs). By following above things you can remain free from diabetes for a considerable number of years. Thanks for the question.

lybrate-user, Hypothyroidism is a thyroid hormone deficiency disorder. Since this hormone is required for development and day to day functioning of brain, plus essential for multiple metabolic reactions in the body. Therefore, it has to be made available every day, through supplement. Hence the treatment has to be for lifetime. There is no option. If one does not take treatment then consequences can be very serious. Thanks.

My father have sugar. He uses zentac300 tablets. He feels his sugar level is normal. Can he decrease the dose?

MD - Pathology
General Physician, Amritsar
its not a question of what he feels about his sugar . get his hba1c levels done .this will tell regarding his blood sugar levels over a span of 3 months. if this level falls in range of good control then you can think of gradually reducing the dose with regular blood tests to check his response

Most people think that after being diagnosed with diabetes, they lose their freedom to eat tasty food. But this is not true, you can still enjoy the liberty of eating what you wish to eat. All you need is to maintain a balance over the food you eat and the exercises you do. When it comes to diabetes, we always hear about low glycemic index foods. Let us first learn more about glycemic index to understand the concept of this Type 2 Diabetic diet plan for normal weighing Indians (1600 calories) What is Glycemic Index? Glycemic index is the capacity of a particular food as to how quickly it can raise the blood sugar level. The foods which are quickly digested and release glucose immediately to raise the blood sugar levels have a high glycemic index. Where as those foods which take longer to digest and release glucose slowly in the blood stream are the ones with low glycemic index. Researches have proved that low glycemic index foods are better for the health of diabetics and those who are prone to diabetes. Constantly high levels of sugar in the blood vessel can damage these blood vessels causing greater threat and irreversible diseases of heart and other organs in the body. Glycemic index categorization – Glycemic – IndexDiabetes High70 and AboveTo be avoided completely Medium56 – 69Can be eaten in restriction Low55 and BelowShould be included liberally Glycemic Index of some common foods – FOODGI Roasted and salted chanas/bengal gram14 Cherries22 Skimmed milk32 Apples38 Pears38 Atta (MULTI GRAIN)40 Oranges44 Brown Rice50 Banana (INDIAN) 55 Basmati Rice (STARCH DRAINED)58 Honey (PURE) 58 Coca cola 68 White bread/PASTA 70 Watermelon72 Cornflakes84 SUGAR 100 Foods to be included in a Low Glycemic Diabetic Diet – 1] Bran (chokhar) can be added in your flours to reduce the GI and increase fiber. 2] whole wheat breads, Multi-grain breads with broken grains are healthier than refined flour breads. 3] Majority of vegetables are low in glycemic index and can be liberally used in day to day life. On must always eat variety of vegetables than repeating the same ones every day. 4] Include brown rice over white rice. 5] You can enjoy the whole wheat varieties of pastas and noodles occasionally. 6] salads should be a compulsory part of main meals. This provides fiber and helps in slow release of glucose in the blood stream. Mr. Lybrate-user, when diabetes is not in control, blood glucose level goes up. If glucose level goes over 180 mg/100 ml, then it appears in the urine. If still higher level is there in the blood then more glucose is filtered in to urine. When glucose is present in the bladder, it draws more water through omosis, this fills the urinary bladder more often. This causes more urge to urinate at nkigt. Hence strict blood sugar control is the only option in reducing urination at night. Plus uncotrolled diabetes also causes more thirst and water intake increases, it also contributes.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology

First his sugar level must be controlled by insulin. If not other conditions will not controlled. If infection is causing fever a suitable antibiotic can be given. Get his blood urea and creatinine checked.

Yes. Lipids and diabetes are very much correlated. The body handling of carbohydrates (sugars) and fats (triglycerides) is disturbed in metabolic diseases like diabetes. So we advice reduced fat intake in diabetes as a very important dietary advice. But please remember that no mathematical absolute projection is present in any human ailment becuase we all are not the same. All that can be confidently said is that the body fat handling is disturbed in diabetes abd hence fats do increase in diabetes as compared to non diabetics. Regards.

Yes you can take protein supplements. However please be careful with your sugar readings before and after your exercise. I would suggest take medically approved proteins in your case like Abbott (Ensure, Danone (Protein X, British Biologicals (D Protin, Azzura. Do read the label to check the protein per scoop. You can take it as per your requirements.
