Dear Lybrate user. Phimosis is a congenital narrowing of the opening of the foreskin so that it cannot be retracted. Phimosis is a very common problem. In most of the cases you can clear the problem yourself. Apply oil on your foreskin and on the glans. Move the foreskin forward and back slowly without hurting you much. Because the oil is lubricant, it will be easier than without oil. Do this forward and back movement 20 times several times in a day. Repeat the same every day for around one month. You will get the elasticity and you will be able to retract the foreskin completely. Take care.

Hi I am suffering from Ulcerative Colitis and right now i am on a stage of severe ulcerative colitis which is also known as pan ulcerative colitis. I am on steroids. I am little bit tired with my daily food routine. I am confused what to eat and what not. My doctor is not responding well too. So i have a question about ,can i eat eggs, cheese, and paneer and tomatoes in daily routine? Please reply.

Diploma in Diabetology, CCT (Rheumatology & Internal Medicine), MD - Internal Medicine
General Physician, Noida
Ulcerative colitis does not have a single diet plan but you take less fiberous diet so your bathroom visits are reduced. You can take eggs cheese and paneer and other milk products if you are not having any milk protein allergy. You avoid fruits and vegetables as they have high fiber content but one or two tomatoes wont hurt you that much. Keep a diary and pen and track what you ate, what caused problem and avoid it as anything can cause flaring of disease depends on individual. Some items are common troublemakers for people with UC, including: alcohol caffeine carbonated drinks dairy products, if you?re lactose intolerant dried beans, peas, and legumes dried fruits foods that have sulfur or sulfate foods high in fiber meat nuts, crunchy nut butters popcorn products that have sorbitol (sugar-free gum and candies) raw fruits and vegetables refined sugar seeds spicy foods

Add one teaspoon of turmeric powder to a glass of hot water or salt water. Gargle with this mixture several times a day, and especially before going to bed. It will help get rid of the inflammation and soreness. Alternatively, you can add one teaspoon of turmeric powder and a pinch of ground black pepper to a glass of warm milk. Drink it at night for two to three days to speed up the healing process.

General Physician,
Although neurologic, endocrine, infectious, and other systemic diseases can sometimes cause hyperhidrosis, most cases occur in people who are otherwise healthy. Heat and emotions may trigger hyperhidrosis in some, but many who suffer from hyperhidrosis sweat nearly all their waking hours, regardless of their mood or the weather. Antiperspirants This may be the first treatment that a dermatologist recommends. It is affordable. When applied as directed, an antiperspirant can be effective. Your dermatologist may recommend a regular or clinical-strength antiperspirant. Some patients need a stronger antiperspirant and receive a prescription for one. Iontophoresis (the no-sweat machine) If excessive sweating affects your hands, feet, or both areas, this may be an option. You will use this treatment at home. It requires you to immerse your hands or feet in a shallow pan of tap water. As you do this, a medical device sends a low-voltage current through the water. Many people obtain relief. Some people dislike that this treatment can be time-consuming. Uses: Hands and feet It works by the electric current shuts down the treated sweat glands temporarily. Side effects: Some people develop: • Dry skin • Irritated skin • Discomfort during treatment Prescription medicine Some patients receive a prescription for a medicine that temporarily prevents them from sweating. These medicines work throughout the body. However we cannot prescribe in open question answer session as a rule but you can ask in consultation. These medicines prevent the sweat glands from working. Athletes, people who work in a hot place, and anyone who lives in a warm climate should use extreme caution when using this treatment. The body may not be able to cool itself. Uses: These medicines can effectively treat sweating that involves entire body. This medicine also can be an effective treatment for post-menopausal women who sweat excessively only from their head. Side effects: The medicines that prevent the sweat glands from working can cause: • Dry mouth • Dry eyes • Blurry vision • Heart palpations (abnormal heartbeat) Surgery If other treatments fail to bring relief, surgery may be considered. Surgery is permanent and carries risks. The following surgeries can stop excessive sweating: • Surgically remove sweat glands • Sympathectomy A dermatologist can surgically remove sweat glands from the underarms. This surgery can be performed in a dermatologist’s office. Only the area to be treated is numbed, so the patient remains awake during the surgery. A dermatologist may use one or more of the following surgical techniques to remove sweat glands from the underarms: • Excision (cut out sweat glands) • Liposuction (remove with suction) • Curettage (scrape out) • Laser surgery (vaporize) Sympathectomy is another surgery used to treat hyperhidrosis. This is major surgery, which a surgeon performs in an operating room. During sympathectomy, the surgeon tries to stop the nerve signals that your body sends to the sweat glands. To do this, the surgeon will cut or destroy certain nerves. To find these nerves, the surgeon inserts a mini surgical camera into the patient’s chest just beneath the underarm. The patient’s lung must be temporarily collapsed so that the surgeon can cut or destroy nerves. Uses: • Surgical removal of sweat glands is used to treat the underarms • Sympathectomy is mainly used to treat the palms

Diabetes is not related to excess of sugar intake. Insulin is not helpful in curing diabetes but definitely in controlling diabetes. There has been some studies to prove whether early initiation of insulin can cure diabetes however results are not encouraging.

Side Effects Of Biscuits Many people believed that since soda bicarbonate remedies indigestion, biscuits, which contain baking powder, might also help with the same. However, not all biscuits provide a remedy for digestive disorders. Moreover, refined flour used in biscuits may cause constipation in some individuals. Gluten allergy is one of the major side effects of biscuits. Individuals who suffer from Celiac’s disease or any form of gluten allergy may not be able to consume traditional biscuits. Another side effect of biscuits concerns the amount of sugar and fats in biscuits. Most of the calories in biscuits come from the sugars. In addition, if you are consuming cream biscuits, sugar topped biscuits, biscuits with jams and preserves, and so on, you continue to add calories to snack time. Tips On Biscuits Intake Recommended quantity of biscuits intake may depend on what kind of weight goal you are planning to achieve. While biscuits can certainly make healthy snacks, the idea is to consume them in moderation. When to consume biscuits depends on whether you utilize them as snacks or as part of your daily diet to fulfill certain dietary deficiencies. However, the best way to consume biscuits includes dividing them into moderate portion sizes (2 to 3 medium-sized biscuits) eaten between larger meals or at snack hour. Other healthy ways to eat biscuits include consuming homemade biscuits and biscuits that are rich in dietary fiber and low in sodium and sugars. You may also purchase biscuits that specifically read low in fat, no trans fat, or fewer calories. Since the quality of biscuits depends on the ingredients used, ensure that you pick biscuits that read ‘made from whole grain’, multigrain crackers, and natural preservatives and additives. Biscuits made from flour attract moisture and may become soggy or stale. Storage tips for store bought biscuits include keeping them in airtight containers. Canned biscuit dough should be frozen or refrigerated according to the instructions on its label. Do not consume biscuits post the date of expiry. Not all biscuits provide a remedy for digestive disorders. The bad effects of biscuits are: Gluten allergy is one of the major side effects of biscuits. Since most biscuits contain refined flour they may cause constipation in some individuals. Individuals who suffer from Celiac’s disease may not be able to consume traditional biscuits. Another side effect of biscuits concerns the amount of sugar and fats in biscuits. Most of the calories in biscuits come from the sugars. So, if you are consuming cream biscuits, sugar topped biscuits, biscuits with jams and preserves, and so on, you continue to add calories to snack time. Cream Biscuits: - Kids absolutely love cream biscuits. But these have to be avoided for being extremely sweet and containing artificial colors and flavors. You should keep them to the minimum and choose other kinds of biscuits. Biscuits are not a good source of fibre. In fact, one serving of fruit provides as much fibre as a biscuit, but with negligible calories. Biscuits that are high in sugar and low on nutrition can harm your body when taken in excess and at wee hours of the day.
