Exercise Guidelines For Healthy Adults!

If you have an active lifestyle and maintaining your weight, this is a good read for you. For most healthy adults, the Department of Health and Human Services recommends these exercise guidelines:

  • Aerobic activity: 

Get at least 150 minutes a week of moderate aerobic activity or 75 minutes a week of vigorous aerobic activity. You also can do a combination of moderate and vigorous activity. The guidelines suggest that you spread out this exercise during the course of a week.

  • Moderate aerobic exercise:

It includes such activities as brisk walking, swimming and mowing the lawn. 

  • Vigorous aerobic exercise:

It includes such activities as running and aerobic dancing. 

  • Strength training:

Do strength training exercises at least twice a week. No specific amount of time for each strength training session is included in the guidelines. Strength training can include use of weight machines or activities such as rock climbing or heavy gardening.

As a general goal, aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day.

Disorders come in different forms and variety; in short they are like people who come in all shapes and sizes. If you have a sexual disorder it does not mean that something is wrong with you. It only conveys that certain issues can affect anyone at any point of time and maybe for a reason or no reason. While some sexual problems have been tracked with their diagnosis and treatment, there are many which are not yet understood well.

The treatment can range from some specific form to psychotherapy. This can virtually help anyone with the sexual disorder despite the concern.

The only concern associated with sexual disorder is that how is it affecting the person. Is it causing distress in their lives or their behavior is changing and would they like to change their behavior or the problem.

Symptoms of Sexual Disorders:

  1. Dyspareunia: Constant and repetitive pain experienced during sexual intercourse in men and women
  2. Erectile Disorder (ED): Inability to maintain erection in men
  3. Exhibitionistic Disorder: Intense sexual urges and fantasies for over 6 months
  4. Female and Male Orgasmic Disorders: Repetitive and constant delay or absence of orgasm post sexual stimulation
  5. Female Sexual Arousal Disorder: Constant and repetitive inability of, or maintaining arousal until the sexual activity
  6. Fetishistic Disorder: Also known as Fetishism, this involves eroticization of nonliving objects or body parts for sexual gratification.
  7. Frotteuristic Disorder: Fantasies and sexual urges that have lasted for more than 6 months
  8. Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder: Low sexual desire in men
  9. Premature (Early) Ejaculation: Early ejaculation, much before the person wishes for
  10. Sexual Masochism and Sadism: Fantasies and sexual urges that have lasted for more than 6 months
  11. Vaginismus: Spasm of the muscles which cause hindrance in sexual activity
  12. Sex Addiction: It is not a recognized diagnostic category at this time.

Treatments of Sexual Disorders:
The most common sexual disorder, erectile dysfunction is readily treated with medication. The drugs prescribed for this are Cialis, Levitra, and Viagra. These medicines are only available if the doctor writes a prescription. They work by increasing the blood flow to the penis and in turn an easy erection in men when sexual stimulation is given. Viagra and Levita, both are effective in 30 minutes, but Levita works a little longer than Viagra.

The effect of both can last up to 4-5 hours. Cialis is believed to work faster that is within 15 minutes and lasts up to 36 hours.

The debate about how sex affects sportspersons has been there for a very long time, but it is its reverse which is somehow more applicable. Research has shown that regularly engaging in sports or other physical activities such as exercising can have some really positive effects on your sex life. This has got to do mostly with improved metabolic activity in the cells from the increased motion and exercise. 

Research suggests that engaging in exercise, sports and other physical activities result in an increase in flexibility and agility among people, thus aiding sexual prowess and performance. In this regard, research also suggests that you don't necessarily need to be overly fit or sporting to reduce chances of ED - even a brisk half hour walk works wonders.

Improved quality of semen: Research has found that if you exercise or are engaged in some rigorous sporting activity for at least 15 hours per week, you will have higher sperm counts than your inactive counterparts.

Increased libido: High levels of exercise pumps up testosterone levels in men and estrogen levels in women, which leads to better muscle growth and an increased sex drive in both sex. 

Increased chances of achieving orgasm in women: If you work out frequently, then the process of arousal works quicker for you and chances of orgasm is faster and with higher intensity, it gets increased exponentially. 

Heightened sensitivity: In women, the clitoris contains over 8000 nerve endings, which makes it very sensitive to stimulation, and increases arousal exponentially. Increased physical activity heightens the effect of this stimulus and makes sexual stimulation much more pleasurable.

For example, you could take a shower together or massage each other. Being physically intimate can also be as simple as holding hands or touching your partner when you walk past them. A quick hug before leaving the house for work in the morning is also a good idea.

  2. Communicate openly: A woman is not the only person hesitant about sex when pregnant or caring for her newborn. Men may also feel hesitant to initiate sex in the fear of hurting his woman. Many men also become extra gentle with regards to their partner when she is pregnant. Hence, it becomes important to communicate openly and share your feelings and thoughts. Do not be afraid to tell your partner when you feel uncomfortable about your body or when your libido surges suddenly.

  3. Do something together: It is easy to get overwhelmed with preparing for a baby or looking after one. However, it is important to set some time aside for an activity that both of you can do together. It could be as simple as drinking a cup of tea together in the morning, solving a crossword puzzle or watching a television show at before going to bed. The idea is to give each other attention for at least a little time every day.

  4. Accept the changes: A woman’s body undergoes a lot of changes when she is pregnant. Do not fight against these changes but accept them as they are and roll with it. Be prepared for breast milk to leak or for a little urinary incontinence. This is normal. It may help to dim the lights while having intercourse or putting down a rubber sheet over the bed.

Feeling a lump on your breasts can be a terrifying moment. 'Cancer' is the first thing that comes to mind but in reality, most lumps in the breast are not caused by cancer. Apart from cancer, breast lumps can be caused by non-cancerous growths, injuries and infections. The only way to correctly diagnose the cause of a lump in the beasts is through a biopsy. Hence, this is the first step towards treating a breast lump. From here on, treatment will depend on the cause identified.

Mastitis or Breast Infection

Mastitis is a painful infection of the breast tissue often faced by women who are breastfeeding. It can be treated with heat treatment and antibiotics. Massaging the breast while taking a warm shower or applying a warm compress. This will open up the milk ducts and should be followed by nursing the baby or using a breast pump to relieve the swelling and pain.

Abscess

Antibiotics are the first line of treatment against an abscess but this is effective only if given in the initial stage of the infection. In later stages, an abscess will need to be surgically drained.

Breasts Cysts

Cysts can be defined as fluid filled lumps. In some cases, these cysts become apparent at the time of ovulation and disappear after the period. In other cases, it may need to be drained with a thin needle. Cysts often recur and need to be re-drained.

Fat Necrosis and Lipoma

Fat necrosis is a lump caused by an injury to the fatty tissue in the breast. Lipoma is a fatty growth within the fatty tissue. In both these cases, no treatment is required but if it causes any problems, it can be removed.

Breast Cancer

If the biopsy reveals the presence of a cancerous tumour, you must immediately consult an oncologist. Treatment options for breast cancer include chemotherapy, radiation, surgery and hormone treatment.

Hi lybrate-user, a miscarriage is a devastating experience for any woman. Healing after a miscarriage requires plenty of rest, emotional support and a healthy diet. 1. Iron-rich foods miscarriage can cause women to feel fatigued and anaemic. In case of bleeding, iron deficiency may occur in the body. Hence, it is important to consume iron-rich foods to ensure that the iron level in the body is maintained. Iron is of two types, heme and non-heme iron. Heme-iron is found in foods from animal sources, such as red meats, poultry, and fish and seafood.
