I am 35 year old & today I checked my Ecg is fine. & did blood test & found my hemoglobin is 10 & calcium is 8.5 Met doctor & took iron folic acid tab of 300 mg & calcium with 1250 mg Pls advice can I take calcium tab at night since I drink milk after my dinner. & also let me know how I should increase my hemoglobin faster.

Iron and Calcium tablet can be taken together to see to it you should take them separately to increase your hemoglobin level eat food which are rich in iron example 1.jaggery 2. Coriander leaves and palak 3.Peanuts 4. Dates Have more citrus fruits lemon, orange .all these things will increase your hemoglobin level.

I am 46 years old lady and while swallowing any type of food I am having a burning sensation along my food pipe. This has been happening for the past 6 months. Initially for 2 month it wasn't that painful and the burning sensation lasted till the chest but then the pain started to increase and it now it reached near my stomach. I went to a doctor and they said to do an endoscopy test but the tests came out to be normal. Since then they have been giving me tablets for gas but it is still burning what should I do?

You are having a condition called as reflux oesophagits. Meaning the acid secreted in the stomach is passing in the reverse direction in to the food pipe, so the above feeling. So the doctor must have given you medicines for reduction of the quantity of acid secreted in your stomach. But you need to see the acid to pass down in to the intestines rather than in the reverse direction. To achieve that you need to have some life style changes. They are give a gap of atleast 2 hours between your dinner and sleep. Slightly raise the head end of your bed. You need to have regular physical exercise like pranayama including kapalabati/yoga or atleast simple walking for 1 hour in the morning. Take atleast 3 litres of water in the day. Include plenty of leafy vegetables/ salad of raw vegetables with each meal. Avoid junk food/outside food. If you are constipated then get treated for the same. If you can come back with your endoscopy report and whether you are tested for H.Pylori along with it. We will be able to give further advise. Good luck.

Plums originally originated in the continent of Asia. They are the member of the plant Genus Prunus, which also consists of apricots, cherries, and almonds. One can’t go wrong in adding plums in their diet. Plums have the qualities of being low in calories and they also enable you to meet your daily dose of vitamin A, vitamin C, and fiber needs. Some other amazing benefits of plums are :

  1. Low in calorie content: Plums contain few calories as compared to its portion size, as they are low-energy foods containing 70 calories. There are just 70 calories in two plums of medium sizes. It has been suggested by CDC (Centre for Disease Control and Preventions) that when one includes more amounts of low-energy dense foods in their diet, it can help them to limit their total amount of calorie intake for controlling hunger and weight loss.
  2. Good source of fiber: Plums are very good source of fiber. 2 grams of fiber can be found in two medium sized plums. In average, adults need about 20 to 30 grams of fiber in a day, where most people consume only around 15 grams of fiber. The fiber content in foods can help control hunger. Fiber also helps to add bulk to our stool. It helps to mitigate and prevent constipation. Fiber also has the power to prevent the risks of heart diseases by absorbing cholesterol from our blood stream.
  3. Low glycemic index food: The calories in plum come from the carbohydrates in the form of sugar. In two medium sized plums, there is about 19 grams of carbs and about 16 grams of sugar. Although plums are high in sugar and carbohydrates, plums are low glycemic index food. The glycemic index helps to rank the foods that contain carbohydrate on how and by how much they affect blood sugar. Foods with a high glycemic index can cause a brisk rise in blood sugar. Whereas foods with low glycemic index cause a little bit of rising in blood sugar. And also people who eat too many of high glycemic index food has a high risk of diabetes and also heart disease according to the Harvard School of Public Health. Whereas eating low glycemic index foods helps to control diabetes and also helps in weight loss.
  4. Good source of vitamin A: Eating two medium sized plums can provide about eight percent of a person’s daily need of vitamin A or 400 international units. Vitamin A is essential for eye health, development and growth, immune health, reproduction, and bone health. Vitamin A is also known as a fat soluble vitamin.
  5. Good source of vitamin C: It is an important water-soluble vitamin. We need a minimum intake of vitamin C in order to make collagen which also helps in healing of wounds and plums are rich in this nutrient. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Dietitian/Nutritionist.

Hello, please cut down all junk and processed foods. Always include protein rich foods such as eggs, nuts, pulses, chicken etc after work out. Ensure your meals before sleep is very light with lots of vegetables. Also include healthy fats daily such as 1 tsp flax seed powder, 5 nuts, 7-8 pumpkin or sunflower seeds etc.

Better to have soft diet for few day. At least for 5-6 days followed by normal diet if you are tolerating well. Try to take liquids more.

although the widal titre is normal ,it still can be typhoid as rising titres of widal done on two occasions is more important. also widal takes at least 5 to 7 days after fever to become positive. your symptoms need to be corelated with complete blood picture. please get a CBC done. it can be viral as well.. but definite diagnosis with the information that u have provided in the question is difficult

Hello, Thanks for the query. The said medication is having calcium, vitamin D3, These are normal supplements. There is nothing of homeopathy in it. It is just a calcium + Vitamin supplement. Thanks.

According to me at this age you shouldic not take tablet. Natural sources are enough. Take curd regularly. Take oatmeal in breakfast. Have buttermilk after meals.

Almonds Vs Peanuts - Which One Is More Healthy?

Do you know that eating just 1.5 ounces of nuts a day can reduce your chance of getting heart disease? Almonds and peanuts can both protect your heart and do much more for you to live healthy for a long life.
But, which one is better for you- almonds or peanuts? Let’s explore, shall we?

Vitamins and minerals: Both almonds and peanuts are storehouses of healthy vitamins and minerals and they both contain equal quantities of micronutrients. One ounce serving of dry roasted almonds has 170 calories, 6 gm of protein and 3 gm of fibre. The same amount of peanuts contains 166 calories, about 7 gm of protein and 2 gm of fibre. But, it’s also known that peanuts have more B vitamins, but almonds are a better choice for vitamin E and minerals in general.

Healthy fats: Peanuts and almonds content equal amounts of fats -Almonds have 15 gm and peanuts contain 14 gm of total fat in a one-ounce serving. This fat is mostly the heart healthy unsaturated fats which lower your risk of cardiovascular disease by reducing cholesterol levels in your blood and fighting inflammation. Experts suggest that you should have 20 - 35 percent of your daily calories from fats, with as much as possible coming from unsaturated fat for a healthy heart.

Which nut is better?

  1. Almonds and peanuts contain the same vitamins like B and E, but in different amounts. You should eat more almonds if you need to boost your intake of antioxidant vitamin E as they have 45 percent of your recommended daily allowance in just a one-ounce serving.
  2. On the other hand, peanuts are better sources of the B vitamins like folate and niacin.
  3. Just one ounce serving of peanuts can give you 10 percent of your recommended daily allowance of folate and about 24 percent of the RDA of niacin. Almonds have less of these healthy vitamins.
  4. Magnesium content in both is there in good amount, but almonds contain marginally more magnesium.
  5. Almonds have two times more iron and five times more calcium than peanuts, though they both have the same amount of zinc.

So, the verdict is in favour of almonds, as they are better nutritionally than peanuts as they contain more iron, calcium, magnesium and healthy fats. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Dietitian/Nutritionist.

Hello ice-cream & juices are not recommended in a healthy diet. You should have a balanced diet including carbs, proteins & fats also the essential nutrients. You can have oats, milk and fruits daily. OUt of egg/chicken and fish, you can have 2 in a day. Egg whites can be had daily but chicken and fish should be had not more than 3 days a week.
