Avulsion Fracture - Common Causes Behind it

A small piece of bone is known as a fragment and it is very common that an avulsion fracture also tends to damage the protrusions of bone to which the tendons attach. This basically means that the tendon or ligament will come away from the bone and it will take a small piece of bone with it. It is sometimes very hard to find out what type of injury you have and this is why knowing the causes and symptoms of an avulsion fracture are very helpful in determining exactly how severe the injury is. 

Here are the causes of an avulsion fracture:

  1. Explosive landing: Athletes who tend to jump or land with great impact tend to get these most commonly. Therefore, it is crucial for your health that if you participate in such sports, you do follow the correct method of jumping.
  2. Explosive extension: Similar to how an athlete landing ferociously can get an avulsion fracture, someone who is extending the legs very violently and explosively during an exercise can also get an avulsion fracture. This is because the bone getting extended could very well damage the protrusions to which the tendons are attached. 

Symptoms
These are the two main causes of an avulsion fracture. There are not many symptoms of an avulsion fracture. This is because an avulsion fracture can only be determined by an MRI or by an X-ray scan. Therefore it is nearly impossible to diagnose that you have an avulsion fracture without looking at the results of the tests performed on the part of your body. However, the way you got the fracture and especially the details of it are very good indications of whether you have an avulsion fracture or not.

It should be excessive exertion to the joint and muscle. You should reduce the practice time for sometime and do the knee, hip and ankle strengthening exercises. And take calcium tablet for 1 to 2 month.

Hi. Its been one month now I am not able to sleep properly. I work between 5 pm o 2 am and reaches at home 3 Am. But I can not sleep now days I do not know why. I feel excessive thinking which is unwanted. When I sleep I can feel like I am still awake and after 2 hrs I get up automatically. I also go to gym after hard work out of 2 Hrs still I can not sleep. I am getting very frustrated now. I follow very good diet plan which does not not include any junk food, spicy food and alcohol. I prefer boil food with green salad thats it. please suggest some medicine to get sleep of at least 5 hrs. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello lybrate-user, The main reason behind your sleeplessness is stress. People with odd sleeping hours usually tend to suffer from this problem. You can follow certain tips: Drink half a cup of Luke warm milk before bed time Perform 5 minutes of deep breathing before going to bed Keep away all your gadgets at least an hour before going to bed and do not check your mobile while going to sleep. Let me know how you find it and if any thing else is required.

I have frozen shoulder. Also I feel pain at different places of my my arm. During night, it starts hurting at some random location on my arm, in whichever posture I try to sleep. The point of pain goes on shifting with changing the posture. My Vitamin D report says it is 8.6 ng/ml. My doctor prescribed me a dose of 60,000 IU of Vitamin D3 (1 gm cachet) every alternate day for 2 months. I searched the Google for the dose of this medicine. On almost all the sites, the recommended dose is 60,000 IU once per week or per month. Please advise me the correct dose.

As per your report your D3 is very low. Take it weekly twice. And apart from that, Early morning sun light exposure for 30mt. Daily one egg. Fish is better than chicken or mutton. Green veg and fruits would be help. Recheck after 3 months.
