Gas formation after eating anything. After breakfast it feels like something fills in my head, anxiety and sleepiness. The dinner has the same effect but it attacks after few minute. And after these symptoms attacks on me I have left eating dinner and taking only lite food. The quantity of tea is decreased to few sips. It is affecting me for years. Taking "Triphala" for six months decreases these symptoms but to some extent. Please help me.

Gas formation could be due to indigestion . Eating heavy meals, lot of sugary foods, pulses etc cause gas formation. First, i would suggest you to check the above things along with a cup of probiotic curd in lunch and dinner. Have a teaspoon of Apple cider vinegar unfiltered diluted with luke warm water before going to sleep. This should help you get relief from the symptoms.

Hello Faisal, Gradual weight gain is always advisable and an increase in 500 kcal per day can result in a 0.5 kg per week increase in one’s body weight. For healthy weight gain, you need to add more muscle rather than fat to your frame and that can only come from wholesome foods. Keep the following basic principles in mind if you wish to gain weight in a healthy way: • Increase your appetite by eating more to gain weight. But do it step-by-step and not by stuffing yourself too much at one go. Add one extra chapatti or more rice than you normally consume, or you even start with fruits by eating an extra one every day. • Carbs are needed to gain weight but include healthier options like banana, potato, mango, whole grains, rice, etc. instead of sugar-rich foods, chocolates, and other junk foods. • In order to increase your muscle mass, it is essential to do weight training 4-5 times a week for an hour. Consume protein-rich foods after you workout to increase muscle mass and eat good fats like nuts and seeds,2 eggs, milk shake ,bowl of chana salad, paneer wrap or chicken . • DIET CHART: • Breakfast: 10 almonds, Banana milkshake, Cheese grilled sandwich in multigrain bread or stuffed parantha. • Midmorning: Fruit, Glass of sweet lassi. • Lunch: 3 chapatis,Dal ,Mixed vegetable containing potatoes,Paneer or Non-veg (Chicken),fruitened curd or fruit cream. • Glass of Milk with bournvita or Whey protein and vegetable sandwich, chicken tortilla • Dinner: Same as lunch .Add a dessert like fruit custard or Kheer. Incase you want medicinal help ,consult me privately online through Lybrate.

My son is 18 years old. First time seizures started at night 3. 30am on 9th may 2014, than after one month brain disturbed and 3rd time at 12. 30pm like seizures. Now eptoin tablets takes daily. What is best treatment?

MBBS, DGO (cal)
General Physician,
Best treatment can be outlined by your consultant neurologist. It is not the question of best treatment. It is important to select the most effective medicine, in single or in combination, that is required for your son and that will be done by a neurologist. So please follow his advice. If eptoin has kept your son's seizure under control over last one year, I feel, he is under able hand.

Foods That Can Delay Your Periods

Foods That Can Delay Your Periods

For most women, though periods are essential, they are not a pleasant experience. The bleeding is often accompanied by bloating, pain in the abdomen and thighs, weakness etc. that can make her feel uncomfortable along with mood swings and irritability. It gets worse if your periods happen to clash with travel plans, holidays or important events like a marriage or social function. Thankfully, there are natural ways to delay the onset of one’s periods. Eating some types of food can help speed up the menstrual cycle while others can help delay the next period. Here are some foods you could try if you want to delay your next period.

  1. Lentils: Lentils can help delay a period and can also help reduce the amount of bleeding. It also helps reduce menstrual complications. To benefit from it, you must consume a cup of lentils on a daily basis. Roast the dried lentils and then grind the lentils to a fine powder. This powder can then be mixed with water to form a soup.
  2. Lemons and Vinegar: The acidic nature of lemon and vinegar can help delay the onset of your periods. It also helps remove toxins from the body and brings a glow to your face. You could simply chew a slice of lemon to delay your periods or drink a glass of water with a tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar twice a day. This should ideally be had on an empty stomach in the morning and just before going to bed.
  3. Parsley: Herbs not only add flavour to our food but also have medicinal value. Parsley is excellent not only for digestion but also to delay menstruation. Steep a handful of parsley leaves in half a litre of water for approximately 20 minutes. Strain this solution and drink the tea while still warm. This should be repeated twice or thrice a day for approximately a week before your periods begin. Parsley tea may be a little bitter and to make it more appealing you could add a little honey to the tea.
  4. Avoid Spicy Food: Spicy foods increase the body’s internal temperature. This leads to the production of more oestrogen that can quicken the menstrual cycle. Eliminating spices such as pepper, chillies, garlic, jalapenos, paprika etc. from your diet can help lower the body’s internal temperature and reduce the production of oestrogen thereby delaying the onset of your next period. If you wish to discuss any specific problem, you can consult a dietitian-nutritionist.

Hair loss, now-a-days, is common among males and females of all age groups. We all lose some hair strands everyday, however, some people lose more than normal strands in a day that can cause severe hair loss. Hair loss is mostly genetic, so if hair loss runs in your family, you are most likely to suffer from hair loss too. Hair loss happens either in clumps, that is overall hair loss, or focussed on any one part of head - especially the crown. While genetics play a big role, some additional factors can aggravate hair loss - hormonal imbalance, Alopecia areata, stress, thyroid disease, anemia, protein deficiency, chemotherapy, and low vitamin levels may cause hair loss in you. Start by following a good diet - Eat adequate amount of protein. Your hair is made up mainly of proteins. Eat eggs, cottage cheese, chicken, soya, lentils, whole grains. Vitamin C, Zinc and Vitamin B are other important nutrients for great hair health. So include lot of fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains in your daily diet. Exercise daily to keep yourself healthy inside out. Next important step is to follow good hair care - Oiling your hair with a mixture of oils like olive, sesame, coconut and castor oil keeps provides moisture to your hair and prevent them from drying and breakage. Once in a week apply a good hair mask. You can mix and prepare different types of masks using eggs, green tea, olive oil, milk, gooseberry, thyme, chamomile etc. Condition your hair using organic Apple Cider Vinegar, Rosemary tea once in awhile. A good dermatologist can successfully reduce hair fall by conducting some tests beforehand that includes blood tests, iron level, vitamin B, thyroid function tests and a biopsy of the scalp. Since some hair loss is temporary, your hair will grow back on its own without medical treatment. More serious hair loss can be treated with creams, oral drugs and surgery. Dermatologist can give your head a fuller appearance with the help of hair transplants and scalp reductions, which is successful both in males and females. To determine the best technique for your hair loss issue, consult a good dermatologist.

A sebaceous cyst is a closed sac under the skin filled with a cheese-like or oily, semi-solid material called sebum. Sebum is produced by sebaceous glands of the epidermis. A foul odor is also often present in the substance called keratin which fills sebaceous cysts. Keratin is a protein that creates the sac of cells called sebaceous cysts. The bumps or lumps that can feel under the skin are actually the sac of cells. Sebaceous cyst arises due to the blockage of the sebaceous gland. It occurs anywhere in the body except sole and palm.
