What a baby eats makes a difference in what winds up in his diaper. The body tends to absorb breast milk more completely -- sometimes there’s so little left that a baby may not poop for days. On the other hand, many breastfed babies pass a mustardy, "seedy" yellow stool with each feeding, at least for a short while. Formula-fed babies tend to have darker, tan-colored stools that happen less often. But remember: Every baby is different, and there is a very wide range of normal when it comes to poop. Tips for Concerned Parents The color and timing of a baby’s poop changes as his diet changes, as his digestive tract matures, and as it gets more new, normal bacteria. It's rare that color changes are signs of a digestive problem. Usually, they just mean that there is more or less of the yellow/green/brown/orange pigments that stool picks up along the way. Let your baby’s doctor know if you see: Poop that stays chalky white. It may mean his liver isn’t making enough bile to digest the food. Poop that is tarry black. There may be blood in his digestive tract that has turned dark as it traveled through the intestines. Bright red blood in his poop. A red stool can also be caused by certain medicines, beets, and food colorings. But the pediatrician can test your baby’s poop to see if it has blood. You don't need to worry about green, orange, and yellow stools. They are par for the course and rarely a sign of a digestive problem.

MONITORING TO MANITAIN ASTHMA CONTROL
Ongoing monitoring is essential to maintain and establish the lowest step and dose of treatment to minimize cost and maximise safety.
Typically patient should be seen one to three months after initial assesment, and every three months thereafter. After an exacerbation.the patient should be assesed within two weeks to one month.
At every visit the patient inform the doctor following.
Use of short acting B2 agonist
Night awakening due to cough/breathlessness.
Interferance in day today activity by cough/breathless.
Any triger observed by patient.
Any concern regarding drug use.

On the basis of above information ,doctor can step up,step down or continue same treatment.
If asthma not controlled, then step treatment
If asthma partly controlled ,then consider stepping up treatment.
If asthma well controlled for three months ,then step down treatment is recommended. The goal is to maintain control with minimum treatment.

Monitoring is still reccomended even after control is achieved,as asthma is a variable disease, treatment has to be adjusted periodically.

Start with simple exercises which you can comfortably do. Please do not worry about the weight gain but be health aware and take good care of the baby. Ensure that you eat in small portions 4-5 times a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner being the major part of you daily meal ). Have fruits in between 2-4 times. Avoid all junk food and processed food which can let you gain weight. Avoid cold drinks and fruit juices. Learn yoga as it is safe and gentle. If you can manage the diet (have a balanced diet) and exercise so that you can burn the calories then you will stay healthy and do not gain weight, at the same time have sufficient breast milk for the baby. Take the supplements given by your doctor for some more time. If you have any specific health problem then try Homeopathy which has no side-effects and is effective as well. You can contact me if required for Homeopathic treatment.

Is it safe to give my 19 months old daughter, syrup cepodem 100 for cough. What dose I should give her.

Is it safe to give my 19 months old daughter, syrup cepodem 100 for cough. What dose I should give her.
Antibiotics should not be used in every case, the abuse of antibiotics has resulted in their resistance. Most of the cases are due to viral in origin and thus don't require the antibiotics. And as far as the dose is concerned, it's based on the weight of the child which is missing in the query.

My son 2 years 4 months old. He is thin and doesn't have good eater. Kindly suggest any good syrup for him.

MD - Paediatrics, MBBS
Pediatrician, Faridabad
Basic principle is six meals per day,one large and one small meal. Alternative meals are heavy (3-4fist) size and light (2-3 fist) size. Minimum gap between meals is three hours and no intermediate eating (grasing). Allow your baby to eat himself and give him maximum 20 minutes and withdraw the good. Next meal must be offered 3hours later. No grasing. Most children are anaemic, so any iron syrup 5ml once a day is good enough to stumilate apetite.

My son is 15 months old He is suffering in Krabbe disease, is this disease is curable what we do Pls. Suggest me.

My son is 15 months old He is suffering in Krabbe disease, is this disease is curable what we do Pls. Suggest me.
Dear parent Although there is no cure for Krabbe disease is known, bone marrow transplantation has been shown to benefit cases early in the course of the disease. Generally, treatment for the disorder is symptomatic and supportive. Physical therapy may help maintain or increase muscle tone and circulation. Cord blood transplants have been successful in stopping the disease as long as they are given before overt symptoms appear. All the best.
