My wife had cold and then she recovered but now her right ear has blocked. Any suggestions?
Fever is not considered medically significant until body temperature is above 100.4 F (38 C). Fever serves as one of the body's natural defenses against bacteria and viruses which cannot live at a higher temperatures..Also, the body's defense mechanisms seem to work more efficiently at a higher temperature -Fevers of 104 F (40 C) or more may be dangerous and demand immediate treatment The following medications may be used at home for mild fever : -Acetaminophen (dolo-650 mg) twice or thrice can be used to lower a fever . Aspirin should not be used in children during a viral illness. -Wear comfortable loose fitting clothes and donot overdress. Overdressing can cause the temperature to rise further. -Tepid water (85 F [30 C]) baths may help bring down a fever -The body should be cooled with a wet sponge. -Fever can cause dehydration.Drink plenty of fluids.Have citrus fruits, particularly Vitamin C rich ones like mausami,Amla juice etc. -Take light and easily digestible home cooked meals .avoid outside food -Wash your hands frequently with soap and warm water especially before meals, or after returning from a public places or using public transport. -Further therapy depends on the cause of fever like urinary infection/typhoid or malaria/dengue infection and the accompanying symptoms that need to be investigated and treated accordingly

Hello Lybrate User,      Blackheads are the pores that come with larger openings. It gets clogged with the dirt as well as dead skin. Melanin oxidation results in the black color. Basically, blackheads are yellowish or even blackish bumps that embedded in the pores. Blackheads easily develop when the skin produces much oil as well as can worsen if you fail to clean it properly, if dead skin buildups. To get rid from blackheads follow this tips - * Facial steam technique - Wash your face with a cleanser, Put a towel over your head, Hold your face over the steamer for 8-10 minutes, Gently massage your nose to get rid of blackheads. Apply your toner and moisturizer as you would normally. Take care.

There are 2 things which should be taken into consideration. One is allergy n other is blocked nose. Allergy is your body s own response to an allergen. Identify allergen (dust, mite, fungus, fumes, smoke, grass, pollens, animal dander etc etx .start using mask when going outside. Consult a good ENT surgeon n get prescribed anti allergic nasal spray and tablets. If no relief after a decent 3-6 months course go for allergic testing and start SLIT (sublingual immunotherapy ). Second is blocked nose: if its due to allergy you will get relief by above. If its due to anatomical reasons like septal deviation or turbinate hypertrophy or polyp/nasal mass etc then surgery will help. Hope this helps. Take steam daily take Care.

Hello its not a throat infection. Its more of acid reflux which occurs when you take spicy food for some people. Avoid taking spicy foods as you tend to get irritation. Avoid tea instead you can opt for healthier green tea with antioxidants. Avoid lying immediately after meals. You can also benefit with antacids to be taken before food. Kindly revert. Take care.

I've had this problem with my ears since fall 2012. I was outside a lot during this time & started hearing ringing, ears super itchy, clogged, a lot ear wax and at some point the earwax smells really bad & I ruptured both ear drums. My Dr. prescribed this medicated ear drops for me (don't remember the name) & it worked but next fall came & I had the same symptoms again! It's been an endless cycle since then & it gets really bad during the extreme heat season (basically all year round in FL), humidity. However it goes away in the winter/ whenever it is cold. My aunt has this too & I was wondering what can I do? Why does it keep coming back? How do I properly clean my ears/ how can I prevent this from happening over and over again?

Dear lybrate-user you seem to have om (otitis media) which is a serious infection. Consult ent specialist who can check properly with otoscope. Wax may develop due to thick and slow discharge. Ent will wash it properly. Please don't do any thing without consulting ent. Your ears are precious.
