We often tend to ignore our diet. Every day we carefully separate the greens on our plate and eat only what we like. Turmeric

Some other benefits of Turmeric are that they help to combat stomach troubles, sore throat, skin problems, cough, ear and eye problems.

Onions

Follow a routine of waking up little early than your usual time, Offer prayer to all the elements of nature, like earth, fire (Sun), water, wind and space. Wash your eyes twice in a day, Use Herbal or Ayurvedic tooth paste, apply regular oil on your body including scalp, drink lukewarm water or ginger/ tulsi tea regularly, have more lentils and pulses in daytime, Add tofu in your diet, you can use it in place of paneer in the recipes like palak paneer, have soya milk, roasted Chana in place of fast food, 2 fruits every day, I glass of vegetable juice. Regular stretching up exercise or Yoga exercises.

Daily morning surya namaskar 10 times before 8am. Drink fruit juices in morning (if possible have fresh fruit juices). Do not remain hungry at all. Keep eating at least 2 biscuits at 2 hours of intervals. Drink more and more water. And join swimming, which best for exercise of each and every muscles of our body. Try this for 1 month. You will definitely be helped by these steps.

You need to have a diet and exercise plan based on your bmi, age & weight and sex, presence of any diseases. Comprehensive exercise& diet plan based on whether vegetarian /non vegetarian can be given if you ask privately. May also need to do some tests. In brief, weight reduction can be achieved only by reducing the intake of food 1/3 of what you take now. And by appropriate exercise plans for each part like belly, thighs, legs etc. To burn off fat. Some tips 1) drink three or four cups of water whenever you feel hungry and just before eating food 2) take boiled or raw vegetable like cucumber, carrot etc. As half of your diet. Then take 1/4 of your total diet as sprouted pulses / proteinaceous food like roti, cooked pulses and remaining with rice or other carbohydrates. Oil or ghee etc. Should be just bare minimum. The most important is to burn off the energy intake by exercises. There is no short cut or medicines without exercise. The food we eat is utilised for our energy needs and the remaining will be stored as fat which leads to obesity.

Last night I had a sudden loss of energy. Mild pain started in my body and I began to feel sleepy. Then I slept for about 11 hours. When I woke up I was as it is. There was no change. Not feeling energetic. After 4 hours I again went to sleep. Now I'm feeling somewhat better but not completely. What problem I might have?

Hi lybrate-user, As per your height and weight your BMI (body mass index) is 19.9. Which is in normal range, recommended BMI for a healthy category is 18.5 to 22. Hi to lose weight it is always better to opt for dietary changes and lifestyle modification. Eat more complex carbohydrates like jowar, bajra, daliya. Have more fruits and vegetables and salads, pulses like sprouts and milk products like paneer and tofu.

Hot and spicy foods can numb your senses, quite literally! In every nook and corner, you will find people salivating over hot and spicy foods. For long, people were of the belief that such foods only harm your system, inviting unwanted health complications and disorders. Most parents try their best to keep their children away from such foods. But every cloud has a silver lining. Hot and spicy foods are not only about the cons.

Unfortunately, not many people are aware of the health benefits of hot and spicy foods. This article is an attempt to aware the readers of both the pros and cons of hot and spicy foods.
Health benefits associated with hot and spicy foods:

Hot and spicy foods, when consumed in moderation can work wonders for your system. Chillies, peppers, spices, the main ingredients which spice up a dish have many health benefits.

  1. Endorphins are your feel-good hormones. Together with serotonin, the hormones help to keep stress, anxiety, and depression at bay. They are great mood enhancers. Chilli peppers tend to elevate the levels of both these hormones in the body, helping you to fight stress better. Capsaicin, an important active component of chilli peppers has many advantages.
    • It plays a pivotal role in lowering the flu symptoms.
    • It has anti-carcinogenic properties.

    • If you have been struggling to lose weight, then capsaicin is what the doctors have just advised. It acts as a catalyst, accelerating the metabolism, thus enabling the body in rapid burning down of calories.

Dear Lybrate User, Increasing weight does not mean that you will go fatty. In fact, extra fat serves as a precursor of many diseases. In order to increase your weight as well as stay healthy you have to increase the muscle mass of your body. Normally a muscle undergoes an increase in size when it gets hypertrophied due to weight training. Weight-training leads to the pumping of blood to the muscle resulting in increased protein synthesis in the muscles. This applies to every muscles of human body. So, weight training is a must to increase weight. Whenever a muscle gets hypertrophied it demands protein to expand. Here comes the need of protein supplement. The most effective protein supplement is WHEY protein. But kindly remember only taking supplement is not enough. You need to take those supplements according to a fixed schedule. For quicker & better results take 40 grams of whey just after waking from sleep at morning. Take another 20 grams of whey just 30 minutes before workout. Again take 40 grams of whey just after you have finished your workout. Kindly remember gaining weight is a time -taking process. So do not expect any result within fortnight.

After second baby, C section, I gained weight. My intake of junk is far less and do not have cold drinks. Also I was unable to exercise because of my small kids routine, late night sleep n late mornings. What to do to loose weight? Right now I am 72 kgs.

hello you need to take a healthy balanced diet along with regular exercise regime for 5 days a week. take small and frequent meals at regular intervals. start your day with 5 almonds soaked overnight with apple and green tea. take fruits as mid meal drink plenty of water. take seasonal fruits and vegetables and sprouts. avoid sweets, junk food and aerated drinks. avoid mango, cheeku and banana. for Detailed diet plan you can consult. thank you

I am 52 years old active person and I have been regular walker/swimmer but not active from last 4 months. I am a moderate drinker and I hardly smoke. Recently I got my blood test done and my Hb1AC is 6, Fasting Sugar is 120 .I take regular banana shake and egg in the morning and there after I eat four meal. Mr. Lybrate-user, in this young age, getting easily exhausted is not appropriate unless there is any excessive mental strain+ becoz of either your job r studies. If your profile is hectic you feel, then try to change it. If its not in your hands r its diffcult, then try few techniques like practicing pranayama, breathing exercises like, art of living sessions, r any other typte of practices of mediatations to get relaxation of mind. Which ultimately empower your body als, proportionately. Try to take sufficient hrs of rest/sleep. Take cup of warm milk before you go to bed. Medicinally, I suggest you to take phosphoric acid 200 potency weekly three doses{each dose means. 6-8 pills]. If any doubts, & give follow up.
