Vitamin A is a group of fat-soluble compounds that can be differentiated into two categories, depending on whether the food source is an animal or a plant: Vitamin A found in foods that come from animals is called ’preformed vitamin A’ or ’retinol’; it is one of the most active forms of vitamin A. Vitamin A found in fruits and vegetables is called ’provitamin A carotenoid’, which can be cleaved into retinol in the body; the carotenoid ’beta-carotene’ is most efficiently converted into retinol, making it an important vitamin A. High doses of vitamin A (retinol) supplements have been used successfully to treat an inherited eye disease (retinitis pigmentosa) and the symptoms of some severe skin disorders (psoriasis and acne). The recommended daily intake of vitamin A varies according to age, sex, risk group and other criteria applied in individual countries: 700–1000 micrograms (mcg) Retinol Equivalents (RE) per day for men, 600–800 mcg RE/day for women. Vitamin A deficiency usually results from inadequate intake of foods high in vitamin A or beta-carotene, a precursor of vitamin A. The earliest symptom of vitamin A deficiency is night blindness. Groups at risk for insufficient vitamin A supply are mainly pregnant and breast-feeding women, newborns, children with frequent infections, the elderly and people who avoid animal-derived foods. The richest food source of preformed vitamin A is liver, with considerable amounts also found in egg yolk, whole milk, butter and cheese. Provitamin A carotenoids (e. G. Beta-carotene) are found in carrots, yellow and dark green leafy vegetables (e. G. Spinach, broccoli), pumpkin, apricots, melon, and palm oil.

Common Treatment Options For Back Pain

Lower back pain is a very common discomfort causing condition that occurs anywhere on the back below the ribs and above the legs. The pain is very common and it is faced by most individuals at least once during their lifetime.

The most basic measures to cure your lower back pain are exercising well, eating healthy and maintaining a good body posture at all times. Here are some of the common treatment options for reducing back pain.

Spinal Manipulation: It refers to an ancient form of therapy in which your back pain is treated externally. This form of treatment is quite similar to a massage treatment and helps to relax the muscles in the lower back area, thereby reducing the pain. It is usually done by osteopathic physicians, chiropractors, occupational therapists and physical therapists.

Neurostructural integration technique (NST): The main role of this type of treatment is to naturally reset the affected area of the body in order to allow it to regain its normal form. The results usually begin to appear after at least 2 sessions of the therapy and the effects are long lasting in nature.

Acupuncture: This is an old technique which uses small needles at strategic locations on your skin. The main aim of the acupuncturists is to re-balance the flow of energy in your body and to ensure that you have an optimal level of energy in all parts of your body. This in turn helps to regain the normal state of your lower back if the right points on the body are targeted.

Other measures: Some preventive measures which ensure that the lower back pain does not recur are as follows:

  1. Keep your spine straight and posture correct
  2. Avoid excessive bending, stretching or weight lifting
  3.  Avoid heavy physical activities like sprinting
  4. Regular and light exercising

The recommended dietary allowance of protein for teenage boys age 14 to 18 is 52 grams per day, or 0.85 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight each day, according to the Institute of Medicine. This is equivalent to about 0.39 grams of protein per pound of body weight per day.

Hi, any type of exercise needs an empty stomach or a gap of 3-4hrs after eating. So if this time is suitable you can exercise but ensure that you get a night sleep. Or you can exercise twice or thrice a week.
