I am 47 years old woman. I am suffering with thyroid, diabetics, bp. Give me few suggestions for all these.
If you are on treatment for all three conditions, then to say you are in control following levels should be achieved: fasting glucose near 100 mg, pp 150 to 160 mg & hba1c%<7. Bp<130/80 mm hg, tsh between 3 to 4 milli units /ml. Plus exercise regularly which is helpful in all three conditions. Diet restriction and salt restriction also is important. Consuming of green leafy vegetables and salads is very necessary.

I want to get weight increase & give some health tips for bodybuilding, as I don't eat that much.

I want to get weight increase & give some health tips for bodybuilding, as I don't eat that much.
If you expend energy then you have to replace it too. You can't build your body if you don't provide it nutrition. Exercise is just stress if not accompanied by a good diet. Eat meals at frequent intervals. Eat a mid meal between each main meal. Avoid junk foods. Include dairy, eggs, sprouts, fruits in your meals. Avoid alcohol and smoking. Exercise at least thrice a week. Even if you were to take medicines or supplements. They will not work in isolation. You have to have a calorie and nutrient dense meal. Eat meals at frequent intervals.

I am a student of graduation and my body is not healthy I want to be healthy and increase my weight.

I am a student of graduation and my body is not healthy I want to be healthy and increase my weight.
Hi, to gain weight you need to combine a balanced eating pattern with regular physical activity. You should be eating at least 6 small meals a day, rather than sticking to 3 square meals. You could divide it as 3 main meals and 3 snacks. You need to be eating every 2-3 hours. Space out snacks during the day so you don't spoil your appetite. Bread, cereal, rice, whole wheat, dalia and pasta: biscuits, and corn-bread are good sources of carbohydrates. Fruits: dried fruits, fruit nectars, and large quantities of fresh fruits vegetables: include, potatoes, peas, corn in your diet. Meat, poultry, fish, dry beans, eggs, and nuts: beef, pork, lamb, poultry, salmon, omelets, nuts, peanut butter, kidney beans, chickpeas will help you gain weight. Include dairy products like milk, yogurt, and cheese: milk, fruited yogurts, hard cheeses, ice cream, puddings, custards, milkshakes. -nuts and seeds make a healthy option for snacks. -roasted channas and peanuts are good -peanut butter on the sandwiches are a great mid-meal choice. -you must know that cereals actually contain some healthy calories. Stay hydrated: drinking plenty of water and other fluids like juices, milk, soups etc, will work in your favour. Do not drink water before a meal and in between the meal as it may make you lose your appetite, thus calorie intake suffers. Sleep: at least 8 hours of sound sleep is a must. Since your body is actually building up muscles, while you rest. Weight gainers have long term side effects.

I want to reduce my weight but I feel tired in morning after night sleeping. I don't find energy for walking.
Sleep deprivation could be one of the causes for tiredness Try to get 7 To 8 hours of sound sleep. It's always a starting trouble. For a week take efforts to go for early morning walk. Then it becomes an effortless habit. Also cutdown refined food and added sugars Eat at least 2 varieties of fruit everyday.

Allergens: Pollen

MBBS, Diploma In Child Health

Allergens: Pollen

Allergens: Pollen

  • Pollen Allergies: What You Need to Know
  • Dandelion blowing in the breeze
  • Pollen is the most common cause of allergic rhinitis.
  • Pollen is microscopic in size.
  • Pollen from trees, grasses and weeds is easily windblown and known to cause allergies.

What is pollen?

Pollen refers to the tiny egg-shaped male cells of flowering plants, including trees, grasses and weeds. Pollen is microscopic in size. It is the most common cause of seasonal allergic rhinitis, sometimes known as hay fever.

Which plants produce pollen that cause allergic reactions?

  • Plants that have powdery granules of pollen that are easily blown by the wind include:
  • Trees, such as oak, western red cedar, elm, birch, ash, hickory, poplar, sycamore, maple, cypress, walnut, catalpa, olive and pecan
  • Grasses, such as Timothy, Johnson, Bermuda, orchard, sweet vernal, red top and some blue grasses
  • Weeds, such as ragweed, sagebrush, pigweed, tumbleweed, Russian thistle and cockle weed
  • Most flowering plants, such as roses, have heavier, waxy pollens that are not as easily windblown.

When is pollen season?

Each plant has a pollen season. It usually starts in the spring but may begin as early as January in the southern areas of the United States. The season usually lasts until November.

Man sneezing

About 45 million Americans suffer from environmental allergies. Dr. Sandra Lin, a Johns Hopkins otolaryngologist (ENT) and allergy expert, answers some of the most commonly asked questions about treating environmental allergies.

Can allergic rhinitis in pollen season be prevented?

  • To lessen the effects of allergic rhinitis during pollen season, the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology suggests the following:
  • Keep windows closed at night and use air conditioning, which cleans, cools and dries the air.
  • Minimize outdoor activities early in the morning (between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m.) when pollen is most prevalent.
  • Keep car windows closed when traveling.
  • Take a vacation to an area where pollen is not as prevalent, such as the ocean.
  • Take the medications prescribed by your doctor.
  • Don't spend much time outdoors when the pollen count is high.
  • Don't rake leaves during pollen season.
  • If you are allergic to grass, wear a mask or have someone else mow the lawn.
  • Don't hang bedding or clothing outside to dry.
