Hello doctor, I am having thyroid. TSH is about to be 44. So can suggest what should we do to reduce this TSH to the normal.. And any fundamental risk? Please answer at the earliest. Regards.

MBBS, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Mumbai
You might be suffering from overt hypothyroidism which requires thyroxine suppliment. Get your Free T3 Free T4 and anti TPO antibodies test and consult any diabetologist or endocrinologist for starting Levothyroxine dose. TSH takes around 6 to 8 weeks to reflect its change after starting thyroxine suppliment.

hypothyroidism if well controlled with thyroxine tablets, will have no bad effect on pregnancy. So if your tsh levels have come back to normal with treatment then you can think of conceiving. Pregnancy should be normal.

Hello, thanks for the query. In T2 DM, intake sugar (sucrose) is not advisable, as it ineases blood glucose. Most fruits contain Fructose, which is not converted to glucose directly. Plus fruits offer fiber, vitamins & antioxidants also. First and foremost is to achieve a strict glucose control with fasting < 100 mg, PP around 150 to 170 mg/100 ml & HbA1c % < 6.8%. One can consume 1 to 2 medium sized fruits a day. Fruits like mango, grapes, banana & chikkoo are to be consumed in small quantity. Thanks.
