Everybody wants to lose weight these days. Yes, obesity increases our risk of developing health problems- you might not be one of them. Here are some reasons you don't actually need to lose any weight.

When patients come to me and say they need to lose weight, my first question is: Why?" Do you need to lose weight to deal with an issue such as diabetes or high blood pressure or hypothyroidism or its just a case of vanity and you want to show your relatives at the wedding that you can fit into a size zero dress. It's important to realize that you're not losing weight in order to be healthy here but it's just a case of vanity.

Focus on maintaining a healthy body weight rather than dieting without reason.

Like it or not, we can't all be thin like your favourite actress—weight is largely determined by your genetics. Two people following the same diet may weight very different. One may lose much more weight than the other. So, be realistic. No two people can be the same.

There are some genes that control everything from the way your metabolism works to your appetite, sense of satiety and even where the fat gets stored in your body. So no matter how much you focus on shedding that weight, there's no guarantee that you'll be a perfect size zero.

Even if you were very thin in your younger days, it's unrealistic to try to diet your way into your jeans from college. You don't need to lose weight is if you're trying to get back to a size you were in your teens or early twenties. From adolescence to your early twenties you will gain a couple of kilos every year. So, focus on maintaining a healthy weight for your age and body type.

Most women I see in my practice or otherwise are unhappy with the way they look. But you know that, don't you? Most of us have heard that little nagging voice in the head tell us that we're too fat. However, it's important to make the distinction between needing to lose weight for health reasons and wanting to lose weight to silence your inner critic. Don't get told by the fashion industry or the advertisements about your body image. Its not about false outward body image but inward beautiful and healthy weight.

Look at what drives you to keep dieting. Do you feel like a winner when your doctor gives you an ok for your health or when your weight drops down another few grams. If you're mostly concerned with the numbers on the scale, you are dealing with a vanity issue and less with a health issue.

With so much emphasis put on losing weight , we can sometimes forget that weight loss isn't the only reason to live a healthy lifestyle. If you're eating healthy and with awareness and exercising every day, and not having ill health then you are healthy. Most people gain a few kilos in their life but still have no health issues. There's a large range of weights that people can be at and be quite healthy.

It's easy to become frustrated when you feel like you're doing everything "right" but the number on the scale still won't budge. The scale doesn't determine how healthy you are. If you've been at this same weight for years, then it doesn't make sense for you to aim for a weight that you have never been- simply put.

So don't give up on eating well and working out if you don't see a drastic drop in your weight—try not to be hooked on to the scale or some fashion trend in body image for a while and you will see that beauty is not skin deep.

Dear lybrate-user, yes I agree that overeating makes you drowsy & sleepy. But I have seen some people with normal diet and still feels sleepy lot of times. I will advise you to do thyroid function test. Take proper sound sleep at night. Kee yourself busy whole day so that you will be continuously engaged in some activity. Most of the times it becomes habit and you have to overcome that. I will suggest you to take cap stresscom twice daily for 15 days. Don't again start overeating.

Dear Lybrate User, *Drinking a cup of hot water with 1 tsp of honey and 10 drops of apple cider vinegar is a wonderful way to start the day. Honey and apple cider vinegar have scraping effects and can help with reducing excess adipose tissue. *Eliminating alcohol, caffeine and smoking. There is abundant information on how many negative effects these substances induce in the body. They can alter the digestive fire and create cravings for unhealthy foods. *Reducing dairy and meats from the diet. These foods are heavy, gross and can lead to slow, sluggish digestion which will increase the same qualities in the body. Therefore one will have excess heaviness, lethargy and poor metabolism with overconsumption of these foods. *Consume the largest meal at lunch – when digestion is strongest and keep dinner a simple and light meal. *Incorporate ginger pickles and teas in the diet. Ginger is an effective herb for stimulating digestion and removing toxins from the body. It will also help to increase metabolism. *Reducing the cold element in the diet and incorporating more hot meals will also bring changes to health. *Fresh vegetables such as beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, celery, leafy greens, onions, garlic, peppers and sprouts will help increase the light element in the body. Fruits to favor include; berries, apples, pears, pomegranate, raisins, lemons, prunes and apricots. Generally heavier and sweet fruit and vegetables such as potatoes, cucumber, zucchini, bananas, coconuts, avocados, oranges, grapes and pineapples are best avoided.

Mix three teaspoons of lemon juice, one teaspoon of honey, and one-half teaspoon of black pepper powder in one cup of water. If you use freshly ground black pepper, then just add one-quarter teaspoon. Drink it in the morning on an empty stomach. Do this daily for at least three months.

I will suggest you to do suryanamaskar daily as per your capacity for a minimum of six months and for loosing weight few tips on diet say no to maida items like toast, khaari ,naan ,white bread. Can drink tea but without sugar say no to Buffalo milk and can drink cows milk can eat brown bread can eat sprout's can eat green vegetables, can eat chappati ,bajra ka rotla can eat one katori of rice twice a day with dal to avoid farsan food items can eat fruits say no to coconut water.

To lose stomach fat avoid sugar,sweetened juice,cola etc.Avoid fast foods,junk foods.Drink plenty of water specially before meals.Do regular exercise to stay fit and healthy.Take quality sleep.These are helpful.

Dear mam. If you want to get flat tummy then you should give your attention to a little bit of exercise also. Home remedies are often effective to cut fat. But the real problem comes thereafter. Once the fat gets dissolved, the skin remains flabby. So I would advise you to join a local gymn and exercise your abdominal muscles under the supervision of a trainer. As your abdominal muscle will get toned you will be a step ahead towards acheiving flat tummy.

You need to follow a low calorie balanced diet chart. And you need to do regular physical exercise to burn your calories which is stored in your body. You need to modify your lifestyle. Take more of fibrous foods in your diet which will help you to reduce weight. Go for whole grains. Cut down oil intake, junk foods. It will be more appropriate if you ask for a individualized diet chart based on your age, height, present body weight and also your dietary pattern.

Hi, you should do abdominal exercise, don't take rice at night and don't skip breakfast. Take lukewarm water with lemon in the morning. Include fibre rich food in your diet.

Dear to decrease your weight you have to do work out daily. Try the remedies below they can help u. 1. Mix three teaspoons of lemon juice, one teaspoon of honey, and one-half teaspoon of black pepper powder in one glass of water. 2. Drink it in the morning on an empty stomach. 3. Do this daily for at least three months. 4. Drink mint tea or make a paste of green mint with some simple spices and eat during meals. 5. Eat vegetables such as bitter gourd and drumsticks to control obesity. 6. Do bhujang asana, dhanurasana, naukasana, kumbhakasana, pavanamukthasana daily 10 min per asana. 7. Do running early morning daily and join aerobics in evening. 8. Avoid oily and spicy food. And constipation.

Iam aged 56 daily walks 4km in 35mins does stomach and other exercise for another 35mins daily.Eating habbits breakfast idly dosai 3nos, lunch 3small chapathi handfull rice with lots of vegetables dinner 3small chapati with plain salad with 3 small spoon of olive oil. Hi lybrate-user tips for weight loss eat fresh vegetables daily. Avoid having sugar completely. Eat whole wheat bread instead of white bread; avoid everything made from white flour and make whole wheat bread, chapattis and brown rice a way of life. Do not skip a meal and eat three meals a day. Drink plenty of water to eliminate the toxins from the system. Limit your fat intake to 2-3 teaspoons a day. Increase the fiber intake as it provides a sense of fullness and also prevents hunger pangs. Take antioxidants for protecting the body against the toxins released during weight loss. Exercise catalyzes your efforts to lose weight and even regular walking for thirty minutes can give you the benefits of an aerobics exercise. Please follow the below recommendation for your condition: diet, exercise, and behavioral modification should be included in all obesity management approaches for body mass index (bmi) of 25 kg/m 2 or higher. Hi I am 46 years and my weight is 60 kilograms. I suffer from hypothyroid from the last ten years. My thyroid profile is normal and I have got my thyroid tested last week where t3t4 tsh all are normal. I take 50 mg eltroxin daily after waking up in the morning. I am single and my height is five feet. I am trying to loose weight but it is not helping. Some doctor suggested me to take thyrowel capsules as well. Will it help me to reduce weight. Hello, Dont judge yourself frequntly,stop checking your weight everyday. Embrace the fact that you have to keep yourself fit. evaluate your diet and bring about positive changes physically and mentally. Have 2tsp of apple cider vinegar with a glass of water and a dash of lemon in it,early morning.
