Hi. I understand your concerns. You may be having asthma. Asthma is a common allergic problem causing cough, breathlessness and wheeze. You will need to undergo a detailed evaluation with chest x ray and pulmonary function test which is needed for the diagnosis and also to assess the severity of asthma based on which treatment can be started. Consult a pulmonologist for the same. Hope your questions were answered. Thanks.

Cough chronic in nature needs investigation like xray chest pa view,PFTand CBC.If all these are normal then CT chest should be done. Rule out GERD.If nothing in reports, then she might be having upper airway cough syndrome.

Probably he is having recurrence. In case of recurrence after chemoradiotherapy, the treatment usually consists of chemotherapy. However targeted therapy can also be tried if he is unfit for chemotherapy.

What is the symptoms of asthma? How can I protect our family from it? Give me the right decision?

MD - Pulmonary Medicine, fellowship in interventional pulmonology
Pulmonologist, Rajkot
Hi, lybrate-user. Basically asthma is a genetic condition with some environmental influence. Symptoms are dry coughing, common cold repeatedly in cold weather & on exposure to certain antigens, which differs person by person, e. G. Dust, smoke, perfume smell, flower dust etc. In severe condition, patient gets difficulty in breathing & whistling sound from throat. You can not prevent the genetic influence, but if your family members have asthma, then one should avoid heavy dust exposure or smoking.

Do not think of extreme conditions. Every time you fall sick it does not mean that you have cancer. You could still be having some residual infection in the chest or some times cough takes little longer to settle down. Consult your doctor again and if required a chest x ray and a blood test can be done and a corse of antibiotics should be given.
