Hi lybrate-user, I appreciate you seeking help for both your mother and elder sister. As regards elder sister's case, it is not possible to comment on the chances of a recurrence given the short description of the issue. Nevertheless, from a dietary standpoint, it is advisable to go for low glycemic foods that is rich in leafy greens and also appropriate seasonal fruits. Simultaneously, being on Tamoxifen, foods like soy, tangerine, grape fruit, genestein supplements etc all are best avoided. An integrative treatment with alternative medicines can improve clinical outcomes. Again, given the acute case of COPD in your mother's case, it is always advisable to take emergency medical help suitably first and do as recommended. You can connect with all relevant reports and treatment history for both, for further naturopathic/ integrative traction as would deem appropriate contextually.

Ayurvedic Remedies for Pancreatic Cancer

Pancreas is small organ located behind your stomach, which are responsible for the production of insulin. This organ produces multiple enzymes, which are necessary for digestion. The increase in diabetes, obesity, smoking and other issues within the population have also pushed up the number of cases of pancreatic cancer. Let's look at some of the Ayurvedic remedies, which are known to be very effective in combating or preventing this disease.

  1. Tulsi or Ocimum Tenuiflorum: Tulsi has been known to have many medicinal properties and has been used in Ayurveda since ages. It improves metabolism, reduces inflammation as well and is able to regulate and control diabetic disorders, thus halting or even preventing cancer.
  2. Emblica Officinalis or Amla: Amla is very effective in the removal of toxins and can regulate inflammation, which is caused by certain enzymes. It is also an antioxidant which can keep excessive secretion under check and stop the progress of cancer or its development in the first place.
  3. Haritaki and Terminalia Chebula: A widely used Ayurvedic medicine, Haritaki has qualities that can act as a colon cleanser and help remove cholesterol and fats from your system. This can unclog organs like the pancreas and lessen the chances of cancer or even halt further progress of cancerous cell growth.
  4. Kanchnaar or Bauhinia Variegate: This herb is very good in stopping the cancer causing agents and can prevent the growth of lymphomas, sarcomas, malignant tumors among other cancerous diseases. It has been used since a very long time to treat cancers in Ayurveda and thus be very effective in treating pancreatic cancers as well.
  5. Guggul or Commiphora Mukul: Another effective medication to stop the growth of cancer, guggul has been a fairly common name in Ayurvedic medicines. It inhibits certain pathways that may either cause or enhance the growth of cancer cells within the body and is thus effective as a preventative measure as well as a remedy for pancreatic cancer.
  6. Ashwagandha: Another common Ayurvedic herb, this is very effective as an anti-inflammatory agent and as an antioxidant. Ashwagandha has been used to treat diabetic neuropathy and is also beneficial in reducing anxiety and stress, all of which may lead to pancreatic cancers. It is also effective in the prevention of the growth of cancer cells.

If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an Ayurvedic practitioner and ask a free question.

Doctors said, he is in last stage of cancer, it began in his throat and spread inside the stomach, he neglected his health and now he is unable to swallow even water, he was under treatment in Tata cancer research hospital they also lost hope and said no to him, now tell me is there any hope left? Is there any charity or financial help because he and his family has bankrupt.

DNB, MBBS
Oncologist, Faridabad
Cancer seems to have spread to other organs so it is a stage IV disease. You can do a gastrostomy or Peg for feeding and put him on best supportive care, providing him comfort and treating symptomatically. Beyond this, we would have to evaluate personally and see all the treatment records to advise further. There are NGOs which help in financial aids helping patients in completing treatment.

How the cancer cells produced in our body can be destroyed without the help of cemo?

DNB, MBBS
Oncologist, Faridabad
Cell grow in our body and are routinely shed off as they grow old and replaced by new cells. This production and shedding off is regulated by genes which control it's number. Whenever this becomes disbalanced then production may be more than shedding off and cells grow uncontrolled. This may be due to faulty genes which is triggered by some carcinogens like tobacco, pollution, pesticides, industrial affluent, radiation exposure, viral infection etc Cancer is treated by combination of surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy etc.

Prostatitis treatments vary depending on the underlying cause. They can include: Antibiotics. This is the most commonly prescribed treatment for prostatitis. Your doctor will base the choice of medication on the type of bacteria that may be causing your infection. If you have severe symptoms, you may need intravenous (IV) antibiotics. You'll likely need to take oral antibiotics for four to six weeks but may need longer treatment for chronic or recurring prostatitis. Alpha blockers. These medications help relax the bladder neck and the muscle fibers where your prostate joins your bladder. This treatment may lessen symptoms, such as painful urination. Anti-inflammatory agents. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) may make you more comfortable. Prostate massage. This is done by your physician using a lubricated, gloved finger — a procedure similar to a digital rectal exam. It may provide some symptom relief, but doctors disagree about how effective it is. Other treatments. Other potential treatments for prostatitis are being studied. These treatments include heat therapy with a microwave device and drugs based on certain plant extracts

Lybrate-user ji. Prostate problems are frequent at your age. Please get investigated in detail for your urinary complaints. If you suffer from benign hypertrophy of prostate, which is the commonest cause then there are medications with which you can delay the operations. But the effect is temporary to bring relief. Surgical removal of prostate is the only curative solution to bhp. In case there are other causes please visit a urologist/ urosurgeon.

Hi Doctor, How to protect our selves from getting cancer. What should be the step to protect from" CANCER" & what should be the Diet? What are the symptoms of early cancer and how can it be detected at the early stage? What are the reasons for getting cancer & is the Symptoms?

DNB, MBBS
Oncologist, Faridabad
Dear kanchan, cancer is a disease which is related to lifestyle. Change in lifestyle has led to increase usage of cancer causing substances in our day to day life. Like increased industrialisation, pollution pesticides radiation exposure stress leading to increased consumption of alcohol, smoking, lack of exercise, sedentary lifestyle, we don't like to walk, we don't use bicycle, we can't climb stairs etc has lead to making our genetic system weak and prone for injury leading to mutations which control our cell growth. Because of this change, uncontrolled, unchecked growth is there leading to symptoms like lumps, ulceration, bleeding, weight loss, fever, anaemia, fatigue, change in bowelor bladder habits etc. One has to avoid known carcinogens and eat organic or properly cleaned fresh fruits and vegetables which contains antioxidants for damage repair and enhancing immunity to fight cancer.

Nipple Discharge ? Be careful.
Nipple discharge

Discharge from your nipple without any squeezing or touching of the breast may make any women wonder. Other than breast milk, any kind of nipple discharge can be a warning sign of breast cancer.

When a tumor starts in the milk ducts just under or around the nipple, it may cause irritation and infection, leading to discharge.

If you notice any nipple discharge, particularly clear or bloody, get it checked by your doctor. Such discharge can also be due to an infection or other condition that needs treatment
