Firstly, don't try to self treat acne. Some popular nonprescription acne lotions, cleansers and other skin products can cause a serious reaction (rare), mostly it is normal to have acne in teenage. For pimples it's important to wash your face twice daily to remove impurities, dead skin cells, and extra oil from your skin's surface, avoid touching your face or propping your cheek or chin on your hands. Not only can you spread bacteria, you can also irritate the already inflamed facial skin. Never pick or pop pimples with your fingers, as it can lead to infection and scarring. A dietary therapy with the right medications for pimples can also help a lot. Kojic acid (a natural skin lightener derived from mushroom extract), arbutin (also called bearberry extract), and vitamin c (ascorbic acid) are great alternative ingredients to lighten scars left by acne. Don't use vitamin e on scars. You may have heard that applying vitamin e to a scar will help it heal faster. But according to a study, applying the nutrient directly onto a scar can actually hinder its healing. In the study, vitamin e either had no effect or made matters worse for 90% of the patients, and 33% who put vitamin e on the skin developed a contact dermatitis. I am a registered dietitian and a doctor who will help you in your skin problems reply back for private consultation.

It is very essential to cleanse and exfoliate underarm nd inner thigh area skin every day just as we do with our faces. When we neglect other parts while pampering face, this results in patchy dark skin. So follow this daily care routine for getting rid of dark folded areas. •Take milk and rub your dark area with it. Milk is an excellent cleanser and a toner too. •After cleansing, use a scrub, preferably APRICOT SCRUB (BAKSON), to exfoliate the skin around your dark areas. •You may mix olive oil with sugar and rub gently to scrub your dark areas •Sometimes use another scrub having bleaching agent such as lemon juice. You will find many scrubs here in this article that you can use for daily exfoliation. •After exfoliating, wash off with water and apply some moisturizer. •Never step out in sun when you apply lemon juice on your skin. This will make your dark areas darker than before. If you follow the above skin care regime daily, you will begin seeing result in a two week’s time. However, do not stop and continue cleansing, scrubbing and moisturizing your skin.

Hello Doctor. I have my graduation day in 3 weeks and my acne marks have been reducing but its taking too long. My dermatoligist gave me ointments many ointments for my dry skin and acne. He told me that first the acne should go and then the marks. He also gave me an acne marks cream. But I have no acne on my face , I just have acne marks. What do I do? Will exercising or eating certain fruits reduce the marks? I dont want any ointments. So can you please help doctor?

MD - Dermatology, MBBS
Dermatologist, Mumbai
Hello. Acne marks lighten gradually. To hasten the lightening, a dermatologist may advise you in clinic procedures like peels or microdermabrasion. Having fruits and regular exercise will help you in the long run but would not reduce marks in a short time.

Hi. There are four main factors which causes acne: Oil production Dead skin cells Clogged pores Bacteria Factors that may worsen the acne: Androgen hormones, certain medications (drugs containing corticosteroids, androgens or lithium can worsen acne), dietary factors, including dairy products and carbohydrate-rich foods — such as bread, bagels and chips — may trigger acne and Stress can make acne worse. Management: -Wash your face with Bakson's Facewash 2 to 3 times a day daily (wash your face with warm or lukewarm water only) which is followed by CTMP, i.e. Cleansing, toning, moisturising and protection (apply liberally Sunscreen Gel with SPF-30) except at night when you just need to wash your face before going to bed. -Take healthy food only and avoid unhealthy ones (although sebaceous glands are not excretory glands then as well!) as what you eat is reflected on your face! -Avoid taking unnecessary stress/ tension as it encourages secretion of stress hormone in the body as this affects skin or any other tissue of the body. -Drink atleast 8-10 glasses of water in a day. -Take 6-8 hrs. Of sound sleep everyday. -Don't use others towels, handkerchief on your face as well as never share yours. -Never ever rub your face as it damages the skin (even towel should be dab on skin softly) and breakouts of acne get worsened! -Maintain hygiene, wash your face 2-3 times in a day, changes the pillow covers, bed sheet daily, use cotton bed sheet only (try to sleep on your back). Home remedies: - Take 1 tbsp of fuller's earth (multani mitti) + a dash of lime + bit of rosewater – apply this on your face till it gets dried up, then rinse it off. - Take 1 tsp of Alum (or fitkari), make it slightly wet with water and apply this on your wet face, spread it well; let it dry and rinse it off. Alum remove your excessive moisture or oil and it also tightens the skin's tonicity. Medication: You can take homoeopathic medicines – Berberis Aquefolium Q/ 10 drops in 1/2 cup of water/ thrice a day (and for local application as well) and Kali Brom. 200/ thrice a day – for 30 days. For beard: Wait for few more years for hair to grow naturally or else consult me.

My age is 29. I am taking proper sleep and diet but I have eye dark circles what I should do?

My age is 29. I am taking proper sleep and diet but I have eye dark circles what I should do?
Hi. Dark circles can be temporary (means happens after any recent or chronic diseases or underlying medical condition, insufficient sleep, nutritional deificiency, working long hrs. On computer, lack of rest, stress/ tension, etc.) which can be improved by fixing the underlying cause or the problem or can be inherited from your parent's genes which can't be treated or cured! management: eat healthy and on time. Avoid junk. Drink plenty of water (as dehydration can cause dull or patchy skin). Sleep well. Wear anti-glare spectacles while working on computer. Reduce your stress/ tension through yoga, meditation or any other excercises (it not only improves your blood circulation, but also reduces the production of stress hormones by the body as well as increases happy hormones in the body). Use sunglasses regularly and not to forget to apply a thick layer of bakson's suncare sunscreen liberally, 20-30 minutes before stepping out in the sun and apply the same again after 3-4 hours if you have exposure to sunlight for long hours. Take homoeopathic medicines - cina 1m/ one dose daily at night for 10 days apply medicynth's whitch hazel cream and bakson's under eye cream twice - in morning and at night daily.

Rashes on skin are mostly caused due to allergy or called hypersensitivity. It may caused by some special food items or cloth fabrics. * you are advised to please check the clothes you are wearing. Avoid all types of synthetic cloths like nylon & use only cotton clothes to avoid rashes. * avoid peanuts, jaggery (gur), garlic, tila, cashew, pista, dates, spices, curd, egg, chicken, alcohol because these food increase the internal heat of body which may also cause redness of skin & appearance of reddish spots, itching & burning. * apply calamine lotion on sites of rashes to get relief from itching & burning. * drink upto 2-3 liters of water everyday. * practice sheetali pranayan in the morning for 5-8 minutes. Dear lybrate user, pimples/ acne vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory skin disease which develops due to blocking of the hair follicles in skin. These blockages occur due to 4 abnormal processes: 1) excess sebum production due to androgens 2) excessive deposition of the protein keratin leading to comedone formation 3) infection of propionibacterium acnes (p. Acnes) bacteria on the hair follicles 4) local release of pro-inflammatory chemicals in the skin. In order to stop the formation of pimples the aforesaid four causes should be terminated. Now the bitter truth is neither can you stop the overproduction of androgen or keratin protein nor can you stop the release of pro-inflammatory chemicals because all these processes takes place internally in your skin. However you can stop the accumulation of p. Acnes bacteria on your skin by preventing your skin from getting oily. Always keep a handkerchief with you whenever you go outside. You should wipe off the slightest amount of sweat from your face as soon as you perspire on entering your room from outside wash your face with an oil-free, non-moisturizing face wash. Take a low carbohydrate diet. Do some exercise daily. Drink a lots of water to avoid constipation. Avoid pricking the pimples or popping the sebum as it may lead to black pigmentation & permanent scar formation. You can also take homoeopathic calcarea phos 200, 5 drops, thrice daily, in empty stomach also you can apply homoeopathic mother tincture berberis aquifolium q on the dark spots on your skin which are produced after the resolution of the pimples.

My friends hair falling continuously and what is the precaution to be taken to stop hair falling.

BHMS
Homeopath, Sindhudurg
My friends hair falling continuously and what is the precaution to be taken to stop hair falling.
It is normal to lose about 30-80 strands of hair in a day. The common reasons behind hair fall are lack of essential nutrients in the body, improper and unhealthy dietary habits, hormonal imbalance, certain medications, dandruff, alopecia and other scalp disorders, stress and tension etc. Natural oils such as coconut, olive, jojoba, almond etc. Can be used to massage the scalp for countering hair fall. Gently massage the scalp prior to head bath twice a week. Also check hemoglobin for anaemia and thyroid status with serum tsh. Have more proteins and trace minerals like copper, zinc, selenium in diet. Start taking a hair nutrition supplement. Keep stress away with regular exercise, yoga, meditation. Get the underlying scalp condition like dandruff treated.
