I am 36 years old and have been suffering from lower back pain due to lost of lumber lordosis with forward sleeping of L5 over S1 vertebra. I consult a neurosurgeon and told me that all this is due to my spine and it is by birth and as a banker this became my job related problem. He suggest me to do postural exercise and to take physiotherapy. I am doing so as per instruction since one week. Sometimes I am feeling better, some times pain increases and I feel pain when I sit. My question is. 1. If I will do exercise regularly whether it can be cured permanently? 2. How long time it will take to restructure my posture and remove pain. 3. Suggest me any other treatment where this can be removed permanently?

I am 45 years old male and I have back ache since last 2 years. What should I do?

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You are very young to have a persistent back pain as a health issue. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Thanks & regards

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. I will actually need to see your relevant x rays and doctor's prescription so that it is easy to understand what the problem is? anyways you will have to elaborate your problem as to a detailed discussion of your back pain which means duration of pain and mode of onset. I would also like to ask you if it is associated with any leg pain or any other neurological symptoms like numbness, paraesthesias (electrical shock like abnormal sensations) or any weakness in limbs. Please also tell me about any associated symptoms like fever, weight loss etc. What medications you generally take and what has been your treatment history till now for existing problem. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

I have diagnosis problem last 3 month and my knee all times pain in winter. So I suggested what I should do.

CCP, MBA, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Ayurveda, Karnal
Knee pain specially in winter can be due to rhumatoid arithritis. Please have your esr, ra factor & crp checked. For knee pain the best treatment course would be to undergo janu vasti at a panchakarma centre near you. After undergoing janu vasti, you shall be completely treated. If need the doc might prescribe you some ayurvedic medicines depending on your body type. Till then you can have drumstick soup daily. Also boil 2 pieces of garlic in 1 cup milk & 1 cup water. When 1 cup remains, strain & drink daily after adding 1 tsf cow ghee.

BAMS
Ayurveda, Ambala
First of all check your posture when you are lifting any material like heavy bucket. And try to lift the heavy bucket without bending your back. You may lift the bucket after bending your knees only. This will definitely help you. * gentle massage with lukewarm mustard oil of your waist area will also give you relief. * surya namaskar is only exercise which you need to do. * in diet vegetable protein of cereal, b complex supplements and half teaspoon of haldi in a cup of milk for seven days will give you enough relief.

Hello Dr. as suggested to my mother to eat roti fried with control oil for rheumatic pains is there any benefit apart from the aampachak churna, yogral guggul 500 mg with no1medicine and rasnasaptak or maharasnadi kwath 10 ml please let me know dr.

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Ayurveda, Faridabad
Ayurvedic treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis starts with pacification of Vata and elimination of toxins from the body. Herbal medicines are administered to improve the digestive fire and prevent further formation of ama. Panchakarma massage therapies are quite useful in subsiding pain. These medicines will help in aampanchan and vata vitiation... Go for absolute fasting or rely on a liquid or semi-solid diet for an entire day, depending on your strength. You can follow this with hot fomentation (application of moist heat). This can be done by soaking cloth in warm water and giving a compress over the affected parts or steam bath or taking a bath with lukewarm water. These are the best methods of digesting ama.
