Lactation Is a period when body needs more nutrition than pregnancy. Also if you did not take care of nutrition after first delivery your body was already depleted of nutrients the second time. Baby does not wait. It always take nourishment whether you do or don't. So at least for first 6 months have a healthy diet. Eat meals at frequent intervals. Eat a mid meal between each main meal. Avoid junk foods. Include dairy eggs nuts fruits dry fruits home made healthy ladoos ghee etc. Keep active. Take a multivitamin mineral complex.

I am 24 and I have very less appetite. I feel very week and tired. Sometimes I can eat but sometimes I can't.

M.Sc - Dietitics / Nutrition
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Bangalore
Increasing your appetite can be a tricky business, especially if you find food unappealing or are struggling to gain weight. Ginger helps stimulate a tired appetite, both through its medicinal properties and its refreshing taste. Make sure the majority of your food intake is from fresh fruits and vegetables. These foods are cleansing to the system. Also include whole grain foods and good quality protein (such as almonds, fish, and organic dairy products). Increase lean good quality protein at each meal.

Try to take milk n products, egg whites, fish, lean chicken, dal n products etc. With complex carbohydrate n good quality fat (almond, walnut, peanut, flex seed, chia seed etc.) stay away from preserved food, ready to eat foods, deep fried food, sugar n sweet items.

Use honey instead of sugar. Assume it as substitute of sugar. Add honey in tea (without milk) in early morning and drink it in empty stomach. Use it in cooking.

I am 26years old male. My body structure is become small every month. My bone are become weak and I go for regular check up my calcium and protein are ok help me and suggest medicines .

General Physician, Faridabad
According to Ayurveda, ashwagandha (scientific name: Withania somnifera), also known as Indian ginseng, helps increase height. Ashwagandha contains various minerals that broaden the bone skeleton as well as its density. This in turn increases your height. You can easily find ashwagandha in an herbal store. 1. Mix two tablespoons of ashwagandha powder in a glass of warm cow’s milk. 2. Add sugar or jaggery according to your taste and mix well. 3. Drink it every night before going to bed at least for 45 days to increase your height. 4. Note: For this remedy to work, you must avoid fast food completely. 2. Drink Milk Milk is rich in calcium, an important mineral for bone growth. Calcium also acts as a height booster. Besides calcium, milk has vitamin A and protein that are essential for overall development of the body, including height. To increase your height by a few inches, drink at least two to three glasses of milk daily. In addition, eating dairy foods like cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt and cream can have an effect on height.Do regular exercise daily, yoga, streching your body, sound sleep, all will help. Thanks Hair loss in men

If using protein powder good for health? I am a regular gym going person and needs to build a firm body.

If using protein powder good for health? I am a regular gym going person and needs to build a firm body.
Hye. The moment you start going to the gym, whatever is your workout, does not justify taking a protein supplement. Proteins are not stored in the body like other nutrients. Your body will utilize only as much protein it needs and the rest will be broken down for energy purpose which is it's secondary function; main being building/repairing muscles. Depending on the exercise (ie. Strength training/cardio or activities like gymnastics or weight lifting) your body's needs for proteins varies. Although whey is natural and the most easily and quickly assimilated form of protein - it is not needed to be exclusively included in your diet. You have to have a balanced healthy protein rich diet for the supplement to be utilised.       Protein need totally depends on your present food intake & activity levels. So, firstly we need to understand, what actually you mean by the term workout. Your body naturally creates an" immediate energy system" This energy system is used during high-intensity, short duration bouts of exercises, such as: 40-100 meter sprint, first few reps of a power/heavy lift. So taking a supplement will benefit only intense training bouts, and help recovery in between sets. Taking it when your workout is not as intense or just because you want to develop muscles or are a new comers to gym workout is not right. You are supplementing your body with something that it does not need. Also, supplements will work only if your basic diet is planned right. So, don't just randomly decide to take a supplement. Evaluate, assess your requirements before you decide on supplementation or else there can be side effects.

That being said, here are a few more tips to gain weight even faster: don't drink water before meals. This can fill your stomach and make it harder to get in enough calories. Eat more often. Drink milk. Try weight gainer shakes. Use bigger plates. Add cream to your coffee. Take creatine. Get quality sleep.
