Anxiety has all to do with fear and your inability (or so you would tend to think) to handle the same. Fear is based on looking too much into the future and imagining things that usually do not tend to happen (usually 90% of your fears will not happen). You need to change your perception of the fearful stimulus then you can change your response to the fear. The first one is the best and will preempt the need for the second. If you are already far gone into the reaction mode, then you need both responses to counter the attack. The way we see things in life (like half empty or half full glass) is very dependent on our attitude. Attitude may have developed over many years but fortunately can change in a matter of sustained choices made and acted up on now. Accordingly you choose to see things as either threatening or as an opportunity. The opportunist will be positive and work with the situation to make good out of it. The individual who sees it as threatening, will, out of fear, try to avoid/run away from the situation or react with anxiety. Yes, self-belief does impact it too, but you can see that prior to that, perception will tarnish the belief system too. Here, you can see that all the resolution lies in just changing your perception/attitude, even if it is against odds. Changing your response, despite the perception, is building up of your reserves and resources to handle any contingency that life throws up at you. And life throws up situations quite regularly and heavily. For this you need to develop a fit mind and body: The former, by meditation and mind exercises; and the later, by exercises and proper diet. You need good sleep too. Included in the development of the mind is the handling of emotions, in your case, fear. These changes will give you a handle on life and your perceptions and responses. Prayer is really powerful, if you are a spiritual person. Repeat some personally framed affirmations that are geared to calming you down and building confidence. Do a personality course too. Anything that develops you personally will be of great assistance in building resilience.

I notices sudden change in my voice sound. My voice is like hoarse and vibrates when I speaks. When I clear my throat I found mucus coming out often. When I speaks people barely understand me. Am I suffering from any disease. If so what can I do to treat it, if it's curable. I really need to get rid of it. Because it effects my day to day activities since I experience it.

You need to go for thyroid testing, as this is the main organ which deals in the small muscles of larynx, secondly this may be due to the dryness in the mouth as this can be improved by taking iron diet properly, and milk products.

It is possible that from tonsils the infection spread to middle ear and cause pain and you may need antibiotic and a ENT check up

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You are very young to actually have persistent back pains. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. For the past one or two months I am getting pain at my tail bone, it hurts especially when I am sitting on a chair, buses, bikes but if I stand it goes. Secondly my right heel burns like chillies but again it does not when I am walking or standing. It burns worst when I am sleeping and try to get up. But it happens only for a few second or minutes.

Hi Mr. Lybrate-user can notophercantopher, you r suffering from what we term as coccidynia. Or inflammation (swelling with pain) of the tail bone named as coccyx. For relief you need to take sitdz bath i. E take luke warm water in a broad based tub & sit on it so that your buttocks dip in it. For 10 _ 15 mins. Avoid sitting on hard surface & support the tail region with cushion. Avoid riding bike. Sit on front seats in bus. For ankle problems take vit b6 or pyridoxin tablets ones daily wear flat slippers with a soft sole take wa. Rnm water ankle bath at sleep time.

Dear Lybrate user. I can understand. The power to do sex and prolonged sex depends on your physical strength and mental strength. If you are stressed, anxious, fatigued, worried etc, you cannot have a prolonged sexual experience. That means, to have a prolonged sexual experience, you need mental as well as physical stamina. My father has high sugar levels. Tests showed something 300 before food and 330 after food. He regularly used to consume whiskey at nights. He has a high intake of cheese butter tea, brown bread, junk food etc. He has a very bad diet schedule, he eats late night and sleeps directly. Please suggest a diet chart for him.

The difficult part which I see in sorting out your problem is not the diet chart or highly uncontrolled sugars - but the fact that the concerns are yours and not that of your father's! You are disturbed because your father is having such a high sugar and is having such a undisciplined lifestyle but believe me, you will never be able to bring a change in any of these if you are unable to bring a change in the attitude of your father. Firstly he has to realise what high sugars can do to his body. Then he has to accept that he is not immune to such complications and he can also develop such effects on his body as well. And lastly, he has make suitable changes in his routine and diet. By merely handing him over a diet chart- you will achieve nothing. Involve your other family members as well. First change his thoughts then his attitude and the his behaviour!

Hi I just can't sleep! I used to work in the hotel industry where I had weird and long hours of work and seldom did I get time to sit and have a proper meal at work. I don't eat in between meals I have never liked junk food so I do not eat it. Now I am retired but sleep eludes me. I sleep at 1030-1100 pm but wake up at 0230-0300 hrs and then no more sleep. I just toss and turn. I have suffered a minor stoke n heart attack afew years back.

Hello, If you are dealyed by more than a month and your pregnacy test is negative , then your delay is likely to be due to hormonal imbalance. Get a hormonal profile and a ultrasound pelvis done. If the endometrial thickness is more than 10mm and no pregnancy , then you can opt for a withdrawal bleed with progestins to resume your menses. Other cause to be ruled out is PCOS , Regards

One way to keep things moving is by getting enough fiber in your diet, which makes stool bulkier and softer so it's easier to pass. Gradually increase the amount of fiber in your diet until you're getting at least 20 to 35 grams of fiber daily. Good fiber sources include: bran and other whole grains found in cereals, breads, and brown rice vegetables such as brussels sprouts, carrots, and asparagus fresh fruits, or dried fruits such as raisins, apricots, and prunes beans while you're having an issue with constipation, limit foods that are high in fat and low in fiber, like cheese and other dairy products, processed foods, and meat. They can make constipation worse. And on the subject of diet, water is important for preventing constipation, too. Try to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. Also, exercise regularly. Moving your body will keep your bowels moving, too.
