Can i have your few minutes to read this one??

We all follow certain myths regarding health. There are a lot of myths regarding Physical therapy and Exercising as well. Here are some myth busters which might help shed some light on the actual facts –
1. Myth: I need a referral to see a physical therapist.
Fact: There is no need to get a Physician’s referral to work with qualified experienced Physiotherapists. They are trained to do the evaluation and treatment planning.
2. Myth: Physical therapy is painful.
Fact: Physical therapists seek to minimize your pain and discomfort—including chronic or long-term pain. They work within your pain threshold to help you heal, and restore movement and function.
3. Myth: Physical therapy is only for injuries and accidents.
Fact: Physical therapists do a lot more than just stretch or strengthen weak muscles after an injury or surgery. They are skilled at evaluating and diagnosing potential problems before they lead to more serious injuries or disabling conditions—from carpal tunnel syndrome and frozen shoulder, to chronic headaches and lower back pain, to name a few.
4. Myth: Any health care professional can perform physical therapy.
Fact: Only qualified Physiotherapist from a recognized college who has done 41/2 years degree course are eligible to do the evaluation and treatment.
5. Myth: Surgery is my only option.
Fact: In many cases, physical therapy has been shown to be as effective as surgery in treating a wide range of conditions—from rotator cuff tears and degenerative disk disease, to meniscial tears and some forms of knee osteoarthritis. Also for stress incontinence. Those who have recently seen a good qualified physical therapist know this to be true.
6. Myth: I can do physical therapy myself.
Fact: Your participation is key to a successful treatment plan, but every patient still needs the expert care and guidance of a qualified physiotherapist. Your therapist will leverage his or her specialized education, clinical expertise, and the latest available evidence to evaluate your needs and make a diagnosis before creating an individualized plan of care.

I have baby three month's before hand I got ceasaern now I had continues back pain and abdominal pain. Is there any problem.

Dip. SICOT (Belgium), MNAMS, DNB (Orthopedics), MBBS

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Your lower back pain may right now be due to weak back muscles or certain other reasons but since it is only 3 months since you have delivered your child, you cannot take a lot of medicines so for you, best form of management if you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc and with no other associated constitutional symptoms like evening rise in temperature, loss of weight, excessive sweating at night etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication which suits you and is also safe for your child - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. You can also discuss your case and treatment plans with me in a greater detail in a private consultation.

The risk of congenital varicella syndrome ranged from 0% to 0.4% when maternal rash occurred before 13 weeks gestation, a syndrome of birth defects in the infant. The most common manifestation of congenital varicella syndrome is scarring of the skin. Other abnormalities that can occur include a smaller than normal head, eye problems, low birth weight, small limbs, and mental retardation. If you have been treated well with acyclovir there is no reason to worry as risk is far low than general population. During a targeted ultrasound, a doctor uses sound waves to take a very close look at the fetus. Between the 18th and 20th weeks of pregnancy, the doctor may be able to see limb defects and brain problems that may have been caused by chicken pox infection.

Aapke uterus me soojan ya infection aur aap anaemic bhi ho sakti hain. Complete check up karwana ek achhi baat hai. Mera ye suggestion hai ki abhi aap conceive karne ki na sochen. Pahle anaemia, pain, soojan, infection aadi ka treatment zaroor kar len. Iske liye ayurveda's aartav shuddhi procedure karen (yeh ek non invasive, non surgical, non toxic, safe and natural herbs ke decoction sewan karne ka procedure hai). Female friendly herbs jaise rodhra, ashoka, nagarmotha, root of vasa, daruhaldi aadi ke dwara banaya jane wal kadha peene se anaemia, uterine infection, inflammation, cramps aadi door ho jaye hain. M. C. Regular hota hai. Ovulation achha hota hai. Ovarian functions me sudhar hota hai. Santaan bhi swasth paida hoti hai (husband ke'veerya poshan ka bhi dhyan rakhen to shartiya santan barhia paida hogi). Isliye aapko advise hai ki aap 2 se 4 month me ye awashya kar len aur phir swasth mann se sambhog karen aur achhi generation payen. God bless u.

Hello. You haven't mentioned about whether you are breast-feeding your child? Is it your first child? Patience and communication with your partner are very important. Depending on your plans for future pregnancy, there are a number of birth control (contraceptive methods) available. Don’t forget to protect yourself from pregnancy until you are ready for another child, as well as using condoms for infection protection if this is a newer relationship. Speak to your health care provider about any questions specific to your situation. Below is a list pointing out the special considerations in the postpartum period. Oral contraceptive pill (OCP) Can be started at 3 weeks if not breastfeeding The combined pill (estrogen + a progestin) can decrease breast milk production so should not be started until at least 6 weeks postpartum. The Progestin-Only Pill does not affect milk supply and can be used during breastfeeding. When combined with the decreased fertility of breastfeeding, it makes a great choice for breastfeeding Moms. Contraceptive Patch or Vaginal Ring Similar to the combined OCP; start at 3 weeks if not breastfeeding or 6 + weeks if breastfeeding Injection Depo-Provera™ One shot every 12 weeks Can be given immediately postpartum regardless of breastfeeding No known effects on breast milk or infant ingestion of the hormone Intrauterine Device or Intrauterine System Inserted into uterus by a doctor more than 6 weeks after delivery Reliable, long-term birth control for up to 5 years but can be removed at any time The hormonal intrauterine system is as effective as tubal ligation Barrier Methods Hormone-free, only needed when you are actually having sex Condoms can be used anytime, and are commonly used temporarily while breastfeeding or to space out babies Use non-spermicidal condoms with lots of extra water-based lubricant to avoid vaginal irritation Diaphragms and cervical caps need to be re-fitted at 6 weeks postpartum Emergency Contraception Emergency Contraception (EC) pills are effective up to 5 days after unprotected intercourse but best if used within the first 24-48 hours. Emergency IUD is available up to 7 days after unprotected intercourse Sterilization Female sterilization = tubal ligation Permanent; only for couples who are absolutely sure their family is complete Abdominal surgery Can be performed the day after delivery while still in hospital through a 2 – 3 cm incision at the belly button Or, laparoscopically through one or 2 small incisions after 6 weeks Or hysteroscopically, where two small coils are placed in the openings of the tubes into the uterus Male sterilization = vasectomy Permanent; only for couples who are absolutely sure their family is complete An outpatient procedure Less risk and more effective than tubal ligation

Don't panic. Give time to yourself. A normal couple can wait upto 1 year if they are not using contraception. Try to do intercourse in midcycle because the chances of conception are high at this time. This is the time when the egg is released from the ovary and if it meets the sperm at this time, then obviously the chances of pregnancy are high. Since you have cycle of 25 days, try to do intercourse between 11th -14th day of your cycle (count first day of your periods as the first day of your cycles. However, if this doesnot work for next 6 months, then go and see a gynaecologist who can investigate you further with blood tests, semen analysis and ultrasonography. Till then, follow my advise of midcycle intercourse.
