I am having some thyroid problem-hypo thyroid and am using thyronorm 75 mg for the last two years. Is consumption of this tablet continuously in anyway harmful? And have I got to take this tablet throughout my life.

yes, it has to be taken throughout. But it's dose keep on Changing. At times you get very low value of TSH and land up with hyperthyroidism, that is the only thing which should be avoided. For this continous monitoring is required.. atleast once In three months. Otherwise there is no harm to take it lifelong.

With it be helpful to take Karela juice (a spoon) everyday...
Fenugreek or karela juice can not assure you a cure for diabetes, but just a little bit benefit only that too for some people and not for all. As the Diabetes is a metabolic disorder affecting multisystem, kindly get treated with Medicines instead of those Home remedies. You sholdnt endanger your life with those. Homoepathy can cure type 2 Diabtes mellitus completely in a period of six months to one year. Consult a homoepath soon.

You can take Nutrient-rich foods that improve your health may also benefit your thyroid gland, antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables more plenty of water: Blueberries, tomatoes, bell peppers, and other foods rich in antioxidants can improve overall health and benefit the thyroid gland. Eating foods high in B vitamins, like whole grains, may also help. Selenium: Tiny amounts of selenium are needed for enzymes that make thyroid hormones to work properly. Any kind of physical exercise including walking has beneficial, I would say therapeutical effect on dieabetes. Physical exercise up regulates numbers of insulin receptors on the cells which improves utilisation of glucose in our body, which results in production of energy and lowering of circulating glucose in the body. Green tea do have good effects as it contains antioxidants.

Hello doctor Meri girlfriend ko low thyroid hai kal test karwaya to pata chala hai aur bhi 8-9 test likh Ke diye hai ...
No need to worry. Thyroid problems are very common. Just a daily pill takes care of the problem. Its a minor issue. As for other tests. I can't say since you have not mentioned the tests. I think they would be routine tests. So just relax. You can connect after you get the reports and advice by doctor if you still have a doubt.

Wound Healing and Diabetes

Wound Healing and Diabetes

Diabetes is a chronic condition where the glucose level of the body rises too high. There are two types of diabetes - type 1 and type 2. In case of type 1 diabetes, the body fails to produce insulin and people suffering from this condition have to depend on insulin injections for the rest of their life. In case of type 2 diabetes the body produces less amount of insulin, which is not enough for the proper functioning of the body.

This type of diabetes can be kept under control by following a healthy diet and practicing exercise regularly.

Why diabetic wounds can cause severe problems:
Diabetes can cause a number of complications that makes it harder for certain wounds to heal. These include:

  1. Nerve Damage: Until a cut or blister worsens and becomes inflamed, in case of neuropathy, you will not experience the pain. Diabetics often suffer from neuropathy, making it difficult for wounds to heal.
  2. Weak immune system: A minor wound may even get severe and become infected if your immune system fails to exercise its natural defenses.
  3. Narrow arteries: Blocked arteries may cause severe wounds which becomes difficult to heal. Clogged arteries make it difficult for the blood to flow to the affected area which slows the process of wound healing.

Treating a diabetic wound:
In order to ensure that the diabetic wound does not get infected, below mentioned methods can be used:

  1. Take care of the wound immediately. If the wound is not cleaned and taken care of immediately, it can lead to bacteria build-up, which will lead to infection.
  2. Avoid using soaps and hydrogen peroxide to irritate the injury. Use antibiotic lotions to prevent infection and a sterile bandage to keep the affected area covered.
  3. Consult your doctor before any minor problem turns big.
  4. Since the bottom of the foot is a common place for developing blisters and calluses in case of diabetic people, try to keep pressure off the wound as it slowly healing.

lybrate-userji, Thanks for the query. I have seen the details given and drugs being taken. Since you have diabetes, probably neuropathic pain and high BP as well as dyslipidemia, all these drugs are needed. However, there is no mention of the benefits if any because of taking all these drugs. You have not said whether, blood glucose levels are well controlled, (FBG< PP & HbA1c%), not mentioned BP readings and lipid levels. So very difficult to comment anything. To be free from most of the troublesome symptoms one has to control blood glucose level as well as BP. Plus balanced diet and exercise also are needed. Thanks.
