Mr. Lybrate-user, please get her retina checked for diabetic retinopathy in a good eye hospital and initiate the treatment. Plus her blood sugar also should be very well controlled. She needs immediate retinal examination. I hope you understand. Take care.

To guide you I would need a few more details, like your weight, height, waist circumference, amount of exercise per day and fasting and pp blood sugar levels and hba1c%. Based on these details I can guide. Presently looking at your details it appears that medication may not adequate or food intake may have to be adjusted. Tab vogs 0.3 should be taken with each food that is taken, 0.3 mg three times a day, with first bite of food. I await your info.

Better to shift to basal analogue insulin like injection basal. Start with 6 units to begin and up titrate with self monitoring of blood glucose.

I am 24 year female, I have back ache problem, and I am a diabetic patient insulin based. What I do now for back ache?

I am 24 year female, I have back ache problem, and I am a diabetic patient insulin based. What I do now for back ache?
Lybrate-user, if diabetes is well in check with fasting blood glucose closer to 100 mg, pp 150 to 160 mg and hba1c%<6.8, then it is really good. Because uncontrolled diabetes tends to aggravate all existing symptoms. To control bach ache one of the best methods is to do specific exercises which help toning up upper and lower back muscles and strengthen them. Pain killers are a temporary solution. If need be consult a physiotherapist or do yoga asanas.

lybrate-user, TSH 21.5 mU/L is very high, showing you have hypothyroidism. This is a deficiency disease, where your thyroid gland is not producing enough thyroxine hormone. This hormone is essential for day to day development of brain as well as functioning of it. Plus it takes part in multiple vital chemical (metabolic) reactions in the body. Therefore, it is required to be supplemented daily from an outside source for lifetime. If not then there can be serious complications affecting general health, weight gain, intolerance to cold, irregular menstrual cycles, heavy bleeding, dry skin & hair, fall of hair, difficulty n speech, inability to concentrate, possible infertility, swelling of face & feet and many more problems. Other medical practices have no treatment for this, only treatment is taking thyroxine tablets for life time. Thanks.

One of the complications of imbalance in thyroid hormones is hair loss. Once you get your treatment to regulate thyroid hormone levels, the hair loss problem should resolve by itself. Besides, you can also do a few things to deal with thyroid induced hair loss.

It might be a temporary symptom, so don't worry. Get back to your doctor, (it may me due to uncontrolled diabetes, peripheral neuropthy.) be regular in taking your medications and add some physical activity so that your sugar control balances efficiently. See that you eat something before and after the activity. Increase your activity level in a graded manner according to your convenience.

I, aged 66 years, diabetic and also postural hypertension feeling giddiness most of the time, although, on medicines prescribed by a recognised military hospital.Feeling fast loosing energy, tiredness all the time, panting, already angiography done a year ago with 40% blockage, little over weight.Cant I be treated permanently for diabetes?

MBBS, DGO (cal)
General Physician,
In the treatment of diabetes there no concept of temporary or permanent. You shall have to monitor and continue treatment. Angio report is not at all bad. Brisk walking and medical supervision can take care of it. Better loose those extra Kgs by walking briskly daily. Exercise shall increase your energy and fitness level. Take some fresh fruit regularly, which are not very sweet. Can take a apple a day. It contain high fibre. Only liquid fibre containing fruit so far I know. Papya is good. Nuts are good for you - contains lots of antioxidants. Increase your protein intake either from animal or vegetable source depending on your dietary habit. Sleep tight for at least 8 hours at night. For your Postural Hypotension, Only follow these. Your above practice shall bring down the problem though. 1) Don't start walking after rising from horizontal position. Sit for a minute if no black out start walking. 2) Don't stand in a place for long time or take care while rise from squatting position suddenly. 3) If any time you have a black-out bend forward or sit and bend down your head at or at lower level to heart. And wait till black-out is cleared. It shall take a few seconds. I shall appreciate your feedback.

Hi Sugar free is not completely free of sugar. It's just that it has low calories and carbohydrates. To curb your cravings you can take it occasionally but taking it in excess is not suggested for a diabetic. Jaggery is the unrefined form of your white sugar. It's nutritional value is better than sugar but it's effect on diabetes is the same. So when sugar is a no to diabetes, jaggery also is a NO.
