I really have a bad breath in the morning and sometimes even after the long hours like 4 or five hours after i do brush. What should be done? Please advise?

Hi Bad breath is caused by dirty teeth, so get a general check up of teeth done. It can also be due to gastric problems as well. Also constant dry mouth may lead to the same esp in the night time when we are sleeping. You should brush your teeth at night before going to bed as the saliva secretion is least at that time. You can use mouthwashes available in the market.

Will drinking banana-milk shake improve my health. If I am planning for weight gain.

Hi lybrate-user yes you can take banana but to gain weight you need to combine a balanced eating pattern with regular physical activity. You should be eating at least 6 small meals a day, rather than sticking to 3 square meals. You could divide it as 3 main meals and 3 snacks. You need to be eating every 2-3 hours. Space out snacks during the day so you don't spoil your appetite. Bread, cereal, rice, whole wheat, dalia and pasta: biscuits, and corn-bread are good sources of carbohydrates. Fruits: dried fruits, fruit nectars, and large quantities of fresh fruits vegetables: include, potatoes, peas, corn in your diet. Meat, poultry, fish, dry beans, eggs, and nuts: beef, pork, lamb, poultry, salmon, omelets, nuts, peanut butter, kidney beans, chickpeas will help you gain weight. Include dairy products like milk, yogurt, and cheese: milk, fruited yogurts, hard cheeses, ice cream, puddings, custards, milkshakes. -nuts and seeds make a healthy option for snacks. -roasted channas and peanuts are good -peanut butter on the sandwiches are a great mid-meal choice. -you must know that cereals actually contain some healthy calories. Stay hydrated: drinking plenty of water and other fluids like juices, milk, soups etc, will work in your favour. Do not drink water before a meal and in between the meal as it may make you lose your appetite, thus calorie intake suffers. Sleep: at least 8 hours of sound sleep is a must. Since your body is actually building up muscles, while you rest. Weight gainers have long term side effects.

1. Practice mindfulness a depressed mind tends to mull over all that is wrong and worries unnecessarily about all the negative possibilities that may emerge in the future. This negative thought cycle reinforces misery and is not helpful in managing to overcome depression. Mindfulness involves focusing on the present moment and is a skill that needs to be practiced. More often than not, our brains are full of thoughts and focusing on the present moment seems unnatural for our minds. Practice on engaging your senses in the moment. Focus on touch, taste, sight, sound and smell. Engaging the senses leaves less time for worry. 2. Listen to upbeat music I have always thought of music as food for the soul. An upbeat tune can change an atmosphere instantly and create a more positive vibe. Listening to upbeat, happy music alters brain chemistry and can improve your mood. 3. Use touch science shows that touch therapies can help some people overcome depression, lower the stress hormone cortisol and increase the feel-good hormone oxytocin. Therapies to consider include acupuncture, acupressure, massage, reiki and reflexology. 4. Include omega 3 fatty acids in your diet research has shown that depressed people often lack a fatty acid known as epa. Participants in a 2002 study featured in the archives of general psychiatry took just a gram of fish oil each day and noticed a 50-percent decrease in symptoms such as anxiety, sleep disorders, unexplained feelings of sadness, suicidal thoughts, and decreased sex drive. Omega-3 fatty acids can also lower cholesterol and improve cardiovascular health. Get omega-3s through walnuts, flaxseed and oily fish like salmon or tuna.

Hie doctor my age is 28 year female and I have gained a lot of weight during pregnancy 2 year back. My height is 5.1 and weight 69kg which was 72kg 4month back. I have gone through routine blood test and there was nothing unusual like thyroid or ny other problem. I am teacher by profession and have restricted totally oily and any junk food in diet. Is taking obicure green tea daily and salad and fruits in diet. Still I feel the pace of weight loss is very slow. I am regular brisk walker for 3 km in 45 minute daily for exercise please guide me how to loose excess body weight as its not healthy to be bulky.

Your trying too much for your weight loss but still not in control. It's main reason is your all internal layer from stomach to intestines there is a fatty layer prepared so how much you doing food restrictions then also it is worthless. You have to liquify the interal layer. By lukewarm water, why protein, buttermilk, green tea. This all may help you to liquify the internal layers of fat. Do your routine as you continue before.

My father has diabetes and also he has uric acid problem. So what diet he should take? And what care is required for the same?

Mr. Lybrate-user, if he has diabetes and high uric acid, both conditions need to be treated with specific drugs. In addition to drugs, diet control and exercise also needed fro controlling blood sugar. As regards high uric acid (no details are given about uric acid level or sugar level and hba1c%), he should avoid high purine containing foods like organ meat, red meat, a number of fishes like sardines, salmon, herring, haddock, shell fish, scallops, mushrooms and mussels. High fat milk products, alcohol and sweetened aerated drinks. Should consume more of green leafy vegetables and whole grain products. Thanks for the question.

There is no specific diet for thyroid and pcos. Dk regular exercise though your weight is normal for your height. Eat fresh juciy fruits and green leafy vegetables do medition and yoga for sleep and active life style.
