My sister is suffering from breast cancer please guide us now till day she had already 3 chemo therapy completed in a nursing home in kolkata now doctor says operation is required what can I do please give me advice.

MD - Radiation Oncology, MBBS, DNB (Radiotherapy)
Oncologist, Howrah
Primary treatment for breast cancer is surgery. However if the tumor is inoperable initially, neoadjuvant chemotherapy is used to downsize the tumor for operable. After a few acycle of chemotherapy the tumor gets smaller in size and surgery can be performed immediately. So in your case if the tumor is operable, go for surgery.

Hello. My dad is suffering from Gallbladder Cancer which is on last stage. He is not been able to eat anything. He is very weak and only taking liquids. Digestion power is very low. Whatever he take just vomit after sometime. Can you please suggest what should we do? I am week financially. Please help me. I can't see him like this.

DNB, MBBS
Oncologist, Faridabad
Advanced gall bladder cancers can cause liver dysfunction jaundice and poor digestion. Since he seems to be terminal and not fit for chemotherapy. You can provide best supportive care, means treat symptoms. For vomiting you can give a good antiemetics, antacids, pain killers. Etc. There are organization which provide hospice or terminal care at home at economical cost. In liquid diet you can add some nutritional supplements to provide extra energy.

Respected lybrate-user tokas hi I don't recommend medicines for weight loss at all. Just avoid more oily spicy stuffs, do regular walking if 3-4 kms a day, do some exercises by your own have more salads monitor weight on regular basis sure you will get results. So far as breast discharge is concerned its hormone related but you can primarily go for ultrasonography or mammography of breast definately. Thanks regards.

The size is enlarged, but along with size of prostate two other things are also required psa and post voidal urine. Most of the times the size increase is harmless until it puts pressure on some structure and create problem. You can consult a homoeopathic physician for the rationale treatment.

What is the causes of blood cancer and its symptoms. How we prevent from blood cancer.

MBBS
General Physician, Faridabad
Genetic changes that cause cancer can be inherited from our parents. They can also arise during a person’s lifetime as a result of errors that occur as cells divide or because of damage to DNA caused by certain environmental exposures. Cancer-causing environmental exposures include substances, such as the chemicals in tobacco smoke, and radiation, such as ultraviolet rays from the sun. People who have blood cancer can have problems with bleeding and serious infections. Seek immediate for symptoms such as uncontrolled bleeding, severe sweating, difficulty breathing, pale or blue lips or fingernails, high fever (greater than 101 degrees Fahrenheit), fast heart rate, confusion, loss or change in level of consciousness, or anxiety.

Hi, I appreciate you seeking help. When did you finish your chemo radiation cycles? assuming that you are getting intense pain in throat, at present, I shall only advise you to gargle with a warm solution of chamomile tea, lemon and honey, three times daily. Along with, you can also try warm saline gargling, with a pinch of fresh turmeric/ salt added to warm water. Do try hot steam inhalation (only) a couple of times daily and use a good humidifier in the bed room. However, I may be able to help you feel better still, if I get to know as to where exactly you stand today with respect to your cancer treatment.

Hi, my wife is 38 years old and have two daughters (11 4 old F/M child). She is having pain in breast nipple point. After consulting the doctor she is taking B-LONG Tab 1 per day. She is thinking that have breast cancer. Can you please advice?

MS - General Surgery
General Surgeon, Pune
Most common symptom of breat cancer is lump in the breast or the abnormal nipple discharge. The suspicion is high if the discharge is reddish. In those cases sometimes even mass is not felt but still the possibility of the breast cancer is very high. Breast cancer pain appears generally at late stages. The usual cause of nipple pain is small crack in the region which can be treated quite easily. Please consult a surgeon nearby who after examination will answer your questions and take out your fear.

Not necessarily carcinoma but duct pappiloma is more common at this age. You should go for ultrasound of breast and cytological examination of nipple discharge.
