Always experiencing palpation on my heart during the mid of the night. Waking up from nightmare, throat feeling sore, feet feels on fire, stomach rumbling, and neck feels tight! Especially during a cold weather day, or after I am extremely tired during the day time. To me it's more like a heart attack, but I've even appeared in the emergency room, they told me my heart looked OK. This pattern has been repetitively occurred like a myth for four years without an accurate diagnose. All I can say is that I self- diagnose myself as Chronic fatigue syndrome for 4 years too. Could you tell me what is wrong with me (chances of anxiety is very low), I'm waiting for a more reasonable answer!

MBBS, MD - Internal Medicine, DM - Cardiology, Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS - Physician )
Cardiologist, Delhi
To rule whether it is from heart or not, you will need a Stress Echo and for the palpitations a Electrophysiology Study, in this we study your heart rhythm to see if you are having any abnormally fast or slow heart beat and if we find any we can treat it. A mere ECg will not be able to diagnose all this. So my advise is that instead of self diagnosing yourself get your self properly evaluated. Get your TSH, lipid profile done as well.

Hi Heart attack is main disease. What is basic reasons of heart attack disease. How to avoid it. Suggest ideas.

MBBS
General Physician, Mumbai
Dear Lybrateuser, - Heart attack occurs when the blood supply to the heart muscle is occluded due to deposition of fats in the blood vessel lining - many factors lead to it like hypertension, diabetes, increase in cholesterol, stress, sedentary lifestyle, obesity, family history, improper sleep, more of unhealthy fats in diet - to prevent it one should lead a healthy lifestyle, have a well balanced diet with more of fibrous foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, pulses, beans, sprouts, nuts - avoid fried, processed & junk foods - have healthy fats as in olive, canola, sunflower oil, seafoods, avocado - do regular exercise like walking, jogging, playing games, swimming for 20-30 min, also do yoga & deep breathing for 5-10 min daily in the morning - sleep well for 7-8 hrs in the night, keep your sleep & wake up time fixed - destress by reading, listening to music, follow a hobby, socialise with friends - get regular BP, sugar, cholesterol check up done.

M.B;B.S, P.G.(FAMILY MEDICINE), D.O.H.
General Physician, Hyderabad
Electrol is indicated in diarrhea and vomitings to replenish the lost electrolytes.I feel the BP is normal for her age.If she is observing salt restriction she can add 1gm salt.Continue same medicine & take as per the doctor's instructions

I have little pain in my heart side. And also in left arm. Is this any heart issue.

LCPS, BAM&S
General Physician, Pune
The pain pattern is most commonly seen in heart related disorders. Hence it should thoroughly investigated to confirm or rule out. There are other causes like muscle-joint joint problem or acidity, gas etc. But they can be thought of only after heart is ruled out.

Hello, the very essence of a successful enterprise, is the person being strong and level headed. There are millions of examples where multiple 1st attempts did not fare well and they ultimately founded one of the biggest company in the world, like ali baba, uber, whatsapp and millions other, however common thing amongst them was one took the easy way out to alcohol. They studied the reason for failure, improved upon the mistake s ultimately to strike gold. All your symptoms are because of alcohol and lack off sleep, a visit to a psychologist is strongly suggested so he can help you before you damage your health and future prospects both. Hoping I could help.

My father B.P is 90/60 and last month he had suffered from major heart attack . Angoplastic is done. He is diabetic also.

Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, MBBS
General Physician, Delhi
If your father is nearly 7 feet as mentioned above, I will not recommend weight reduction except reduction in salt and sugar which he must have been advised after angioplasty & being diabetic on no sugar. his bp is low. give him more fluids and get checked again. if it is one time reading , do not worry and keep him hydrated by insisting on drinking more water. if bp is constantly lower than 100 , which is highly unlikely but do get checked by your doctor to know the reasons of low bp like low thyroid,anemia.. regarding recent heart attack , do write back about investigations done and numbers of blocks. angioplasty has been done for 1 or more blocks ? aftercare for angioplasty is routine prevention of a heart attack like eating right, moderate exercise,no smoking and no negative stress.

I am a 27 years old male. I have a tightness inside the heart and back pain while walk. My face will be swollen after I get up from the bed. I went for ECO, ECG, Thread mill test etc and cardiologist told me that my heart is perfectly fine. Do I have to go for angiogram and a test my kidneys because the back pain is also suffering me a lot.

BPT
Physiotherapist, Delhi
Dear Mr. Lybrate-user, you say that you have been checked for any cardiac issues by a cardiologist so I shall rule out that. The back pain and the swelling of the face are suggestive of some problem in your kidneys. If you see swelling in your limbs as well you should see a nephrologist.

My father is diabetic. And heart patient also. Can you tell me proper diet chart.

MSc
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Chandigarh
We recommend intake of slow-release carbs (low gycemic index (GI) foods) to keep blood sugar levels even because they are digested more slowly. High GI foods spike the blood sugar rapidly, while low GI foods are absorbed gradually. We encourage eating regularly at set times. Eat smaller meals at regular intervals (6 to 7 times a day) as both overeating and starving could result in fatigue as well as cause blood sugar levels to fluctuate. The body is better able to regulate blood sugar levels—and the weight—when an individual maintains a regular meal schedule. We recommend moderate and consistent portion sizes for each meal or snack. •Reduce saturated fat and cholesterol from your diet. •Trim any visible fat off meat before cooking and remove the skin before cooking. Consume fish or chicken instead of red meat. •Instead of frying, choose to grill, broil, bake, or stir-fry. •Avoid using heavy cream, use low-fat milk. •Eat more foods rich in fiber, such as fruits, vegetables and whole grains. •Consume a low-fat balanced diet consisting of whole-grain cereals, low-fat/ skimmed dairy, fruits, vegetables, sprouts. •Avoid stimulants such as too much caffeine. •Drink 10 to 12 glasses of water everyday. •Lose weight, if overweight. Aim to maintain a healthy body weight. •Increase your level of physical activity (walk at least 45 minutes to 1 hour daily). •Meditation and relaxation techniques can help calm the body and mind, bringing them into a better state of balance. •Get enough sleep. A good night’s sleep helps reduce overall fatigue, anxiety and stress.
